BMW by steinbvg | Photobucket

Always garaged Jet black, black interior 39k 2003 m5 bought at and maintained by a south jersey BMW dealer is for sale. No modifications.
Clean CARFAX. It,s tight and runs like new. Never raced or dyno tortured. Never in snow, barely in rain. No smoking, kids, animals.
Judging the broad market and being aware it,s very subjective and specialized, I believe the car is worth at least $30k. Sorry for the iPad picks. Any detailed questions of serious enthusiasts and potential buyers can be routed to steinbvg at yahoo dot com. Thank you.

Update

Thanks for visiting this thread.
I got a few calls-offers somewhat below the desirable number...I'll keep them in mind for later: I have placed the ad in the Autotrader. I would like to give it a bit more time and exposure...I'm not in hurry.

Be patient. You'll get your number. It may take 6 weeks or so, but you'll get it. I just sold a low mileage 03 M3 for a bit above 22k. It was about 5 weeks until I got an offer over 20k....everything else was in the mid teens....

You've got a good car there. It has value; you just have to wait for the buyer.

THANKS.

Thanks, it gives a somewhat reassuring prospective on the market for M vehicles.

I got a call from a guy in DC who claimed that would buy the car on the spot, but was leaving on 2 wks overseas vacation regretting that ' the car might not be there' upon his return...I told him I would keep his contact...

I had paid for the Autotrader ad for 8 wks...Will see.

Message from the EAG

Got an email from the EAG:
"Hello,

I’ve been following your M5 thread and expected my name would be dropped. Looks like a nice and respectable M5.

I buy the majority of nice low mileage E39 M5s that come to market and offer a very straightforward sales experience. As you go through the private sales routine, there will be no shortage of stories and “if’s”. Most of our purchases come directly from first and second owners and we ensure well preserved cars find awesome and caring homes with an equally simplified purchase experience for our clients. We fully reset the baseline updating all the common model-specific short comings ensuring our cars are turn-key ready.

I would be happy to save you the time and hassle of selling and make an offer in the $27-29K range based on a 15-30 minute telephone conversation allowing me to determine what all I’d invest in to place the EAG brand upon this M5. If you have interest, I welcome your phone call. "

I have sold a car to EAG in the past. It was a pretty slick transaction. They listed my car for $10k more than their purchase price and it sold quickly. Stick to your price. They don't make these cars any more. If you have questions about my dealings with EAG feel free to email me. mvgozar at gmail dot com

This is such a great deal for an enthusiast that's actually looking around and is in your moderate price range.

Sell it to EAG and they'll claim "$5k worth of work went into this car", then will be asking like $43k or something stupid. This results in that enthusiast losing out on a great and affordable deal and the car goes to someone of an unknown calibre, never to be heard from again.

But of course; your car, your sale! :)

Beautiful car & good luck with the sale.

Curious as to the dislike of EAG. It seems common here. Is it mainly because they scoop up a car and resell for a price that most of us can't afford or have folks actually had bad experiences with them? I find it hard to fault someone willing to pay a sellers price and resell for a profit. Thats what dealers do...everyone has to eat.

From the opposite side of the table I personally tried to buy an e30M3 from them about 10 years ago. Flew out intending to drive the car home. It was very poorly represented and I ended up flying back. It was disappointing and a huge pain in the ***. Where they are still in business I figured it was more of a 1 off situation.

Did you end up having a phone conversation per their email?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot. Somehow I think not many of us on this forum have poor impulsive judgement or 'starve' to make a rash sale..or a buy...
I always had a feeling that the brutal and charismatic e39 m5 may become an iconic antique car one day...
Starting to plan the sale I was unpleasantly surprised to see the KBB sale value of these marvelous vehicles...but I,m glad the world is still full of BMW enthusiasts who know it,s real value.

I drive by EAG all the time here in Cincy in my 2003, grinning from ear to ear knowing that I didn't buy mine from them and avoided the needless up charge for "the EAG brand" as they called it. There isn't a need to overspend if you're committed to your search. Someone is going to get a great car for the right money.
