Rise in E39's for sale?

Dont know if you guys surf craigslist, I normally do trying to find a decent set of cheap snow tires for the beast but i have noticed a huge increase in them for sale. Im surprised how many there is, and how many are for sale. I swear ive seen atleast 6-7 different M5's for sale in the past couple months.

Any info on how many E39 M5's there are in the Greater Vancouver area? I know we can account for atleast 10 here, not sure how many there are in total though.

Yeah, sadly to say i think im addicted to craigslist.

I just picked up 15L of oil from this dude yesterday while i was on my way to the U2 concert.

Anyway, ive done lots of searching since the begining of summer, and it seems that there are usually 2-5 E39 M5s for sale at any given time. I think I've probably looked into everyone of them..hehe jk

So I wouldnt say there is a huge increase right now, but maybe slightly above average.

I don't think there's been an increase neither. I've checked out craigslist once in a while but did not find too many E39 M5's out there. I did notice, however, a 2001 Imola Red just like mine for sale with an asking price more than what I paid for mine.

Ah yes, the 2001 Red that needs engine work in the future?

2001 BMW M5

I noticed that the M5s with the aluminum trim dont have a matching aluminum gear knob. Yet i know i've seen it before.

I think there are currently about 4 for sale rite now. Anyone else want one...?

Yeah the aluminum shifter and aluminum ebrake handle only went to 2001 then it was canceled I believe as it chipped and couldn't be fixed... my MINI Cooper S had the same issue. My car has a full leather shift knob, but i'll probably be tossing it aside once I get around to a short shift kit as I'll slap the ZHP weighted knob on there instead.

Victor's car actually has the aluminum ebrake handle... his shift knob was changed over to the leather one by the previous owner.

i was actually looking at a 2005 M5 with a aluminum ebrake; sure enough, it was all scratched and flaky. I even have a pic of it too.

There's actually 2 silver M5s on sale rite now in Vancouver! So I guess that colour really isnt that rare.

2000 BMW M5 - E39
2001 BMW M5 E39 Excellent Condition!

I think i've almost posted of them ..hehe

Oh, speaking of shortshift kit, which one were u thinking of getting?

2005 M5? No such thing. 2006 was first year for the E60. But yeah titanium silver is not a rare color when compared to the other options available. It's sort of a signature color for bmw's as a whole.

ooopppss.. sorry for the typo

I meant 2000 M5.

Speaking of other available options, I'm really interested to see how everybody's e39 is optioned out. I noticed that some M5s have 'flat' leather seats http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0007_large.jpg while some have contoured leather http://homepage.mac.com/tiagocarvalh...birthday21.jpg Then there's the headliner, folding seats, etc etc. I'm just having a hard time finding out what options were available on the M5 when it was sold, and consequently, I dont know what exact packages/options my E39 has.

flat seats were the comfort seat options... the contoured ones which most of us have are the sport seats.

my car also came equipped with rear and side sunshades... the sides are manual and the rear is operated by a button up front.... I also have front and rear park distance control.

oh and I have the DSP and M-Audio subwoofer package... basically all options available.

I just got my straight pipe mufflers setup today, car sounds very mean ordered a bunch of carbon fiber too, I'm going for a monochrome/greyscale look for my car, will get the wheels powdercoated black sometime in the new year.
