604: Tracktime at Mission Raceway

Alright guys, how about a different kind of meet? There is a track day on Monday, Oct. 12 (Thanksgiving Monday). It is open to both first-time track drivers, as well as those with some track experience. It is an all day event, and believe me, you will be tired at the end of the day. Bring your M5 to the track and see how she really handles. (This is a road course, not the drag strip).

For those who have never taken a high-performance driving course, I cannot stress how useful the sessions are in terms of learning car control and even things like the proper driving position and correct setup of your mirrors. IMO, everyone needs to take at least one of these courses to improve their driving skills.

Cost: $245+GST for the first timers, which includes classroom sessions. $235+GST for those with some track experience.

Lets see some of you out there.

Great idea! I too have been wanting to do a different style of meet, whether a track day or a dyno day or even an extended cruise. No need for photos etc unless you really want to but lets get out there and drive and hang out! Unfortunately I work weekdays, yes even holidays, so I won't be making it out for this event.

I went to this track day it was FANTASTIC!
Everyone should do this to see how great our cars really are. They are a bit heavy for mission as it is a small track and really hard on the brakes. Took my son and his 330ci with me and he was grinning ear to ear all day long. Great instructors, great weather, who cares about turkey.

Ah, so that was your M5 there? Never got a chance to say hi. I brought my black NSX, since it is a bit better track car.

I agree, anyone who enjoys driving needs to take there car to the track. Not only is it loads of fun, but you learn a heck of a lot in terms of proper driving.

Charles, If you bring your NSX I have a friend who will come. His dream car is an Comptech Supercharged NSX! I havent been to Mission in awhile, I wanted to run the M down the drag strip but everytime street legals were on, something always came up.

Unfortunately, I think that is it for the year. Track days will probably start up again in around march or april.

I agree the M5 is not well suited for Mission but it sure was fun to thunder down the straight and try and get corner one right. This was the first time with a car this big as my previus times were with an E46 M3. Going to add a few mods over winter months so I will feel comfortable pushing it a little harder next year. Maybe keep up with the Carrera GT
