I have an old one, from 2001, but it is an authentic CD and I know that it works in my nav unit. I can bring it to the Cypress meet for you to test out. Or if you want to swing by my place this weekend we can test it then.

Sweet maybe i can swing by sometime. Right now my problem with my MK3 is that everything works, but the navigation portion just says "please wait a moment" Im trying to fault either the Nav unit or the CD. Figure its cheaper to buy the CD but they are all 60-70$ so no point really, put that towards an MKIV and be done with it.

Tempted just to put my MK2 back in so atleast i have NAV again. I have a March 2008 CD it has a few scratches on it but nothing major.

Where abouts are you located Charles?

are the mk2 and mk3 drives able to read cd-r?? you already know where i'm getting at with this...

also I've seen some of the cd's on ebay for quite reasonable prices.

oh and i still haven't even learnt the full functions of the nav system yet. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to do more than just get me to type in addresses all the time, I want to use the supposed built in directories full of POI's

Heh i know where your going with that one. It should be able to as people are upgrading the software with burnt CD-R's. I have not been able to find any on the net though. Honestly this would strictly be for testing purpose, if it worked id probably go buy the proper thing.

We bought ours in Toronto and never thought to check the NAV disc. After experiencing problems we found it was a copy. Nasty! Dealer sorted it out. The factorydisc is hugely expensive in Canada. Service Manager claimed $500 for an '07 disc.

Dave

That sucks. Mine is an original CD. I have the whole 2008 set. The Canada CD is kinda scratched up a bit so im thinking that could possibly be it. But im also having a problem ejecting the disc so i have reason to believe its the actual unit.

Not yet ill give that a shot. At this point now im ready to put my MK2 back in and call it a day till i save up enough for a MK4 DVD based. If one thing ive learned with my past experience with modifying cars is never buy something your 80% happy with. You'll just end up kicking yourself in the end when you have to spend more money to buy the one you really want..because everytime you see the one you want you think to yourself "damn i really want that." Now ontop of the amount you paid for the 80% happy item, you have to pay the full amount for the one that truely makes you happy.

Sorry for the rant. Just sucks, after i bought the MK3 i saw a bunch of posts about how unstable the Mk3 is lol.
