Opinion needed for E39 M5 '03

Finally got a silver blue E39 M5 '03 and finally became a member of this board. I owned a 530i '03 before the m5, guys my question is that is the m5 a reliable car, I mean can i depend on it for long drives and would it give me unnecessary faults ? I do take care of my cars, like i service it at the dealer, but eventhough i take care of it, would it bug me for no reason or give me these huge bills ??
Mates, i just want to feel i havent done any mistake by replacing e39 530i with an m5, so please make me feel better.

Will require more attention than the 530i. And will not be as reliable as the 530i. However, Long trips should be fine. I encourage you to get a decent size spare in the trunk before going on a long distance drive. Always stay on top of your fluids and always be careful with you down shifts..
