Changing out my water pump need some advise

Posted 31st August 2011 at 02:38 by Peter M5
I own a 2000 M5, 120000 km and the water pump has given up the ghost. I have removed the belts and pulleys to find the lower water pump bolt is behind the harmonic balancer. I have read to lock the harmonic into place. What should I use and where is the location into the block. I also read to use a large breaker bar to crack the retainer bolt. My concern is damage to the block and harmonic, more than anything the timing components. There seems to be mixed emotions on replacement of the water pump...
