Here a picture of the new BMW 1-series...

http://www.autovisie.nl/preview/previewbmw1.html

I don't think someone of you m5-owners might be interested ,but it's nice to know what other cars your brand makes...

i don't know who they have employed for making fake pictures but i guess they'll have to get another employee , anyway damn , why to cheat and show fake photos at all? What's the point here? I mean maybe some of the cars we see in magazines are fake shots , but at least these are small pictures with work done professionally so we can't say if it's fake or not, but i still don't understand it...

While taking another look of the picture i must admit it is not that real at all... Sorry for wasting your time with such pictures, but in my first reaction I thought it could be interesting. Anyway, the 1-series I think is a model none of you would buy, so why bother

Hey,

No problem at all. Why not a 1 series ? I have read about it in the magazines (or it was the 2-series ?)...

Regards.

Johann,

Spy pictures of cars are shared with many other car magazines. I guess freelance spotters take pictures on test centre's and tracks and sell their pictures to an agency which sells the rights to car magazines all around the globe.

Pictures of new cars is big business and I am sure there are also pictures digitally animated to fool the public. It's like, thebpublic want to see new cars, so we'll give them that.

The magazine Gerjan mentioned is directly related to the German autobild magazine. They share articles, pictures ect and translate them directly.

Take care ,

Raymond

The (dutch) text says "This computer rendered picture is based on confidential sketches from BMW design center in Munich". I don't know what to believe. I think Raymopnd is right about the new 'spy pictures market'. It's funny how car magazines adopt these things. Or they do know their sources very well and are just looking for cheap content, or they are really stupid...

regards,

Gerjan

Even though it is computer generated, i've gotta say that that's one of the ugliest, if not THE MOST UGLIEST things I've seen come off of the drawing board

I don't believe that the new 1-series (or 2-series) will look anything like that (in spite of the fact that Chris "R2D2" Bangle is in charge). The new car will probably be a lot smaller and will hardly have rear-doors. All the engines will be inline-fours so the model shall not weight too much. I hope they won't some day introduce the new 1-series 'S' model and hire a supercharged Mini Cooper S engine to move it around... BMW has hopefully learnt a valuable lesson from the years with 2002 Turbo.. Although BMW-Brabham did win die F1 Meisterschaft with a turbocharged engine in 1983. Well, hopefully no compressors anyway. Although it made wonders for Mercedes SL55 AMG... Anyway, I think that high-revving naturally aspirated engines rule!!!
