Carbon fiber trunk

Just came across this.

ViS apparently recently added this to their cf offerings. Looks pretty good..uses factory hinges and comes with a latch.

Anyone know where I can find the weights of the OEM hood and trunk? I'm having a hard time tracking this down.

Thats pretty nice. In the for sale section of this board there is still a thread about a carbon fiber csl style trunk. It is supposed to weigh 175 lbs less than the oem and is priced at ~$1,000ish I believe.

^^ are you sure about that weight savings? That would mean the oem trunk is about 200lbs, I doubt that it the case.

Actually, it is 17.5 kgs (38.5 lbs). CA indicates that the OEM trunk lid weighs in at 42.9 lbs stripped, while their cf lid weighs only ~4.4 lbs. I'm not crazy about the shape and was looking at OEM styled lids. I'm not sure how much the ViS unit weighs, but it is probably similar to the CA offering.

This site is great, has the weights of all stock parts. Looks like bare hood is 47.7 lbs and bare trunk is 26.6 lbs.

full stock exhaust is something like 175lbs (headers back). I wonder how much lighter....say....SS headers/x/cats/Kellners would be.

Looks like CA may have over-stated the weight of the OEM trunk lid. If their cf unit weighs 4.4 lbs, the net weight saving is 22.2 lbs.

I've not seen a GTR cf hood weight. I read somewhere that the weight saving is ~35 lbs. If so, the GTR hood would weigh in around 12.7 lbs.

With cf hood and trunk lid, the weight savings would be in the neighborhood of 50 lbs (worth about 5 hp).

Now for those heavy seats. I remember Ron Thomson saying that his full-function Topline Recaro seats weighed about half the OEM seats....

Now THAT would really compliment the CF hood! I wonder if they have a CF roof as well?
