Stock M5 Hits over 60mph in 2nd, right?

My stock M5 hits over 60mph in 2nd gear. I am being told that putting in a 3.45 diff reduces a shift to 3rd to hit 60mph.

See thread Dinan 3.45 Diff Delimna

mine too. I thought the interest in 3.45 diff had more to do with performance thru all gears though not just the 0-60.

No it does not. A 3.45 diff will cause you to shift earlier, although not before reaching 60MPH. Not sure what my max speed is in 2nd but I know it's over 60.

Stock M5 (3.15 diff), 7000rpm = 68mph; with 3.45 diff, 7000rpm=62mph.

You're misunderstanding that thread. The point is, with the 3.45 diff, you can 'still' hit 60 in second gear, whereas, if you went with, say a 3.91 (and stock redline) you'd be required to shift to third.
