Preventative Maintenance List for 100k+ Mileage

Ok so Im getting ready to refresh the car and I'm making a list of parts that need replacing or a check up. So far the car is in great condition however I'm a perfectionist so everything that doesn't "look" new or close to it irritates me. In fact, I think I'm the only one who will spend a weekend doing undercarriage and suspension cleaning.

So far this is what I have done:

- Replaced suspension w/ Eibach Coilovers
- Replaced armrest handle
- Replaced rear sway bar links
- Air Filters
- Spark Plugs
- Clutch

This is what Im planning on replacing/checking (please add to list if im missing something):
- Crankcase vent hoses (thanks to Jon for his rec.)
- Changing oil to 10w-60
- Replacing tranny oil with Royal Purple Syncromesh
- Replace shift knob (worn looking)
- Front wheel bearings
- Coolant flush
- Camshaft sensors
- 02 sensors
- MAF sensors
- Replace diff oil
- Replace belts

Let me know if im missing anything!!!

I would be amazed if your thrust arm bushings are not bad at 100K mi. If you never get suspension vibration in the 40-60MPH range, I guess they're OK. I would get the rear suspension bushings and thrust arm bushings closely checked before replacing the suspension and then get the new parts all realigned.

What about Flushing coolant, flush brake/clutch fluid and 75W-140 API GL5 rear diff fluid? The clutch job is a good opportunity to bleed the clutch and replace your H2O saturated brake fluid.

how about hoses? I just broke 90k, and am thinking about the preventative cooling issues that i read about (though they seem to mainly apply to 540s). I did a waterpump and thermostat last year (while the front end of the engine was apart anyway), and plan on doing coolant and all of the hoses this summer. Am considering throwing a new radiator and fan clutch (fan cluth replaced at 45k under warranty), or going the zionsvill rad with elec. fan conversion (though that might be overkill).

I brought up an old radiator thread a couple weeks ago, not many rad failures on the M5, compared to the 540, so not sure if it's really an issue, but it does have plastic tanks.

One thing I noticed immediately between the M5 and the 540i is that the seems to stay cooler (according to the gauge). My 540i needle got to mid point and never moved...

From the discussion of the catastrophes that are possible, it sounds like a fan clutch at 80k is a good idea.

I do all my own work. Suspension, Electrical, Engine, etc....In fact I rebuilt my m62 engine in my previous 540i. Nothing is more pleasing to me then knowing things have been done right!
