Anyone have the April issue of CAR Magazine?

The cover story is the Koenigsegg CCX vs. the Merc-McLaren SLR 772

YES

Some quotes, I will be write and article about Koenigsegg when I find some time.

But some of the quotes are:

[SL-R 722] "Despite its feriocious pace, the 722 doesn't feel anywhere as quick as the Swede, its lower output further hampered by additional weight and one less gear ratio."

[CCX] Above 60 mph the steering frees up, creating a linear and tactile link to the wheels.

...the CCX apocalyptic soundtrack is on another level. It spits out a cacaphony of vale chanin trash, induction gasp and supercar whine, all underlined by a menacing V8 thunder. Dip into the surprisingly light oil cooled clutch, grip that tall gear lever, push it an inch forward into first and on the smallest hint of throttle the CCX is spinnning it's rubber and snaking down the road.

...This supercar is physically intimidating under full acceleration. Nailed through first, second and third the V8 catapults the car forward with monumental force. Speed is gained so quicly that the digital speed readout jumps ahead in 25 mph increments as it tries to catch up. The CCX piles on speed in such an addictively relentless manner that faces with a shimmerign arrow straight and deserted road ahead I just keep going, punching the Cima transaxle gearbox through tis six precis geasr every time the engine reaches its 6900 rpm power peak.

The bend that pulled me short in the Merc is still nowhere to be seen when the magic 200 mph flashes up."

Until recently I have never been a big fan of the Koenigsegg, but reading articles like the one in CAR has made me gain respect for the car. I was reading an article in Nov. '06 issue of Sports Car International regarding the extensive durability tests the cars have been put through. Very impressive for such a small manufacturer. That motor must sound out of control in person. I know the motor is based on a Ford block but do Koenigsegg plan on any future update in displacement or maybe even cylinder count?

Actually, the CC8S uses a Ford racing block. The CCX engine, while using similar architecture, is designed/made by Koenigsegg. Their latest push is the E85 FlexFuel version of the car and the CC-GT racing version, which uses a 5.0L version of the CCX V8.

Thanks for the info. Just finished watching the TopGear CCX roadtest. Jeremy Clarkson almost ran out of his smug humor trying to keep it on the runway. Sounds like a monster

Actually, the CCX block is designed by Koenigsegg but made by Grainger & Worrall in the UK. Grainger & Worrall supplies the castings for the Bugatti Veyron, as well as for F1 cars.

The CCR block was only good for about 900hp, whereas the stronger CCX block should be good for upwards of 1500hp according to Koenigsegg engineers.
