Front End Cover - Feedback

Hey guys....I'm recently a proud owner of a rock chip on my front bumper. My first long distant trip in my brand new car and what do you know. A ROCK CHIP!!! Argh!

Anyway, I was thinking about getting a front end cover for my car. So I asked around and some people tell me that it actually scratches the paint from the rubber rubbing up against the paint.

However I still want to get some more feedback....so who ever owns one, please let me know how you like it.

I'll try to keep this short.

Clear plastic film:
- product available from BMW
- higher quality product available from stoneguard
- should be installed by an experienced person... guys who do tinting often to this as well.
- the adhesive might yellow after several years. This is my biggest concern
- depending on color of car, you can notice the film within 10ft of car, but any farther away you don't see it.

Car bra:
- none are rubber that I know of
- most a vinyl with a polyester fleece against the car. This does not scratch the paint... it's softer than paint
- if you leave it on the car at all times, dust / dirt collects. This is what scratches the cr.
- I've used one for 6 years. Actually I use two. One is clean and ready to go. I wash my car once a week. At the same time, I pressure wash the bra inside and out, and take it home to hang dry. I put the already clean / dry one back on.

You still will get fine scratches. But these can be polished out with compound by hand. You can't polish out chips.

I'm thinking of getting stoneguard on a new M3 but just not sure how it will last over 10 years.
