E39 2001 M5: Trunk Contents?

Does anyone have a picture or contents list of the area that houses the tire inflator(compressor). I only have the portable compressor and a piece of foam, I know something is missing. Just not sure what...

This is the removable hitch:

And it goes here:

Are you serious?

Louv, you've got to be kidding me! OMG I would be in my next life time before I would have guessed a hitch. Well thanks for the quick answer...if nothing else it makes for great forum trivia. Regards.

He's not kidding. I have the same. It was a prerequisite to buy the car... I really need that...

Lou,

Tell me more about that hitch. Does it just fit up around the lower valence in the rear, or do you have to cut the bumper cover in some fashion? Wow, if this thing is totally stealth when not installed, I'm going to have to look into it (tire trailer for autox and track events).

Thanks,
Chuck

There is a special OEM rear bumper diffusor for the hitch. It has a rectangular part that can be removed when the hitch needs to be installed, and clicked back into the diffusor when the hitch is removed.
My diffusor is painted black, and I swear you cannot see the car has a removable hitch. I've installed it a month after I bought the car (2 years ago now), and NOBODY ever noticed it. When people see mee with my trailer (is trailer the right word? It is really not that big...), I get reactions like: "Huh? I didn't know you had a tow bar?"
Or, when we have to pick something up, I suggest that my trailer can be used. Then I get reactions like: "Thank you, but now we still need a car with a tow bar."
"Urrhhh, you're sitting in that car now!!"

Here you can see how the rear bumper looks like when the bumpercover is on.

How much can an M5 tow? I've never considered a tow vehicle due to the hassle of dealing with another truck in my life, but I'd be tempted to tow my M Coupe to the track with the M5 just for fun!

Strangely enough, this also is a perfect fit for most handguns...or so I've heard.
