Angry Hunt Them Down and Nuke Them

All,

I generally do not participate much in the OT subjects, but current events being what they are, my anger has finally gotten the better of me.

President Bush made mention that those who harbor these criminals are just as guilty as those who committed it. I could not agree more. If a country is found to be guilty of hiding these cowards, we need to make sure that this country ceases to exsist, now and in the future.

There is only one sure fire way to make this happen. We have the capability, the reason and the justification to do just that.

My prayers go out to all of the families and victims of this cowardly act.

Mark

Yes. I also agree 110%. Let this be a lesson for anyone who thinks they can get away with something like this.

How about giving them a chance to extradite first? That way we'd make our point, save a lot of innocent civilian lives, and know for sure that we actually got the ones responsible. Would you want Bin Laden presumed vaporized but actually running around incognito?

Actually I think if we have to do something it should be a conventional air/ground invasion; liberate Afghanistan if we have to rather than flattening it completely. I gather that quite a few Afghans are not at all pleased with living under Taliban rule.

I couldn't agree more that these terrorist bastards should pay with their lives. My only concern is the reports that some of these countries we may have to destroy to get at the terrorists have been reported as having nuclear capabilities. I think it's unrealistic to think we will be dropping any nuclear bombs, but it wouldn't be unrealistic to see these people consider dropping one on us if we are destroying their country with regular warfare. Therefore, we need to really do our homework before beginning the extermination of these terrorists, or else we may find ourselves in the middle of an even bigger American tragedy.

Does killing tens of thousands of innocent people justify killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people? Of course not. Misinformed though they may be, I suspect the majority of afghani people, like us, prefer peace, and they love their children like we love ours. I don't think "nuke them off the planet" is the right solution. I think Bin Laden and his people should be eradicated. I think the government that harbored them should be squashed like a pancake. But I wouldn't wish a nuclear holocaust on anyone.

These Afghanis have already beat the Soviets as well as U.S. backed freedom fighters a few years ago. In fact, it was the U.S.A. that trained bin Laden and his crew back when we had them fighting the communist and thought he was on our side. They would beat us again in a ground war because of the terrain. A bomb and missil war will kill more innocent dirt farmers than military personel. IMHO we should let the CIA assasinate the ones responsible for their horrible attacks on American.

Angry

I agree that countries that harbor terrorists must be punished severely.
Terrorists do not care whether civilians die in their attacks, niether should we. WAR is WAR innocent peoiple die -- we must bring terror to the people who bring terror to us.
In my view this is the only solution. Conventional warfare is useless against terrorirism. For every life lost here they should pay 1000 times more. They kill innocent people, we should kill innocent people in the villages and countries that harbor them. Think about it, if the poeple of say Kabul are supporting terrorism -- they are not innocent anymore -- they in affect are the instrument of war and therefore must be destroyed.
There is no right and wrong it is a question of survival.

Talks and negotiations solve nothing against fanatics.
As the bible tells us, if someone tries to kill you, kill him first.
That is just plain and simple.

Assisination will not do anything, in my view. If not Laden it will be someone else even more radical. There muts be a punishment for terror greater then terrorists can bear. I would even go as far as punishing relatives of terrorists, so that it becomes unthinkable to commit a crime like that.

I agree greg.

All u ppl think about is revenge, not peace... And nobody knows who have made this horrible act, so it's no need to say 'My only concern is the reports that some of these countries we may have to destroy to get at the terrorists have been reported as having nuclear capabilities. '.... IMO DrJimM5 is generalizing AND judging countries and innocent ppl.
Remember that the citizens in ex. Palestine know more about war, pain and sorrow than u and I ever will....

I am not condoning this in anyway, but please dont let your emotions get in the way of reality. Nuking them will kill more innocent people and doesn't garantee getting the terrorists you are after.

As for going after the people who harbor the terrorists, isn't the US still the biggest base for donations to the IRA? Or does it only matter when some citizens from other countries back terrorists?

Just to reiterate - the people who did this need to be hunted down.

Please believe I am not trying to minimalise the horror in this.

Regards

Al

I would disagree with Myron. I don't think people are proposing to punish innocent people. They are proposing to punish those who help, finance, harbor terrorists. Those are not innocent, are they?
Terrorists right now know that US can do absolutely nothing to them, becuase US can not not just go and bomb "innocent" people. So they strike and hide, and then plann another attack for months and years, exploiting our freedoms. That policy should change.
Terrorists must know that US will go to any extent possible to punish those that are responsible. The responsibility is on people who not only plan and execute but on those knowingly help them in anyway shape or form. They are OUR ENEMY AND MUST BE PUNISHED 1000 times more severly then the damage inflicted on us.

Nuclrea is not the answer since it is still conventional war fare. It must be a well orchestrated effort of non-conventional war fare.
I am sure US has the expertise required to carry out operations like that consisting of assinations, spying, sabotage, terror. Use the same instuments terrorists use against terror.
I think that would work.
