        At Last........

After 2 months ownership (1 month on holiday!!) I just had the 1200 mile service done and got to open it up. What a difference. I didn't realise how strong it would pull over 5000 revs and the noise is great. Had them put 10/60 oil and adjust the handbrake but other than that. Dealer told me they are expecting their demo SMG in October so once I have had a good go in it I will decide if I switch although at present I am really enjoying the 6 speed.

Us lucky (for cars reason) europeans already have the smg. We had bmw days at the very beginning of the holiday , so i teseted the E39 beast (still waiting to find an interesting one to buy) , the 740d , 530d , Alpina D10 biturbo (i really don't like diesel cars but these were something else , but there is no way they could ever get as good as petrol) and the M3 SMG. This car is really cool , changing into the next gear in 0,08s , everytime. There was also the Z8 , but you could only watch it , you couldn't drive it. I don't know if they were affraid that someone could steal it (nonsensical , a car like Z8 is so easy to find that no one who has brain could do it) maybe they were affraid , that a sunday driver that drives a 72 hp 1986 mercedes 200D with auto gearbox could crash a 250 000 DM car. Also there was the new compact (give it M-engine and this would be cool) the E38 750s and other cars , but unluckily there were no E60 7s. This was the beginning of the holiday so they probably haven't got them at the time. The funny thing is that when you wanted to drive the beast or the m3 you had to sign some paper that says that if you had an accident you won't charge bmw with nothing , when driving the diesels and other cars you didn't need to do that.
