Transmission Fault and other warnings got me.

Yesterday night i was driving normally, nothing wrong. I stopped at my house, turned the car off. When i got back to the car again i got the following warnings:

(all colored Orange)
Transmission Fault! drive moderately
DSC Failure! drive moderately
Damping Control Fault
Run Flat Indicator Failure!
Start Assitant Inactive

So today i started the car up again and only got:
Transmission Fault! Drive moderately
Damping control Fault

The car currently has about 10900Km.

I will take the car to the stealer on monday but I would like to know what do you guys recommend me to do until then...

Sam thing

The same thing happened to me as well. There is some type of manufacturer problem with the low speed steering system. If you take a turn at around 15MPH you can feel a sluggish steering wheel. The only fix, take it to the dealer. The change out something on the car. They were supposed to fix the 2007, but apparently not. Set up an appointment.

I hope this helps.

Try resetting the iDrive and/or disconnect/reconnect the battery leads. If those don't get rid of the faults, I wouldn't drive the car except to get it to the stealer on Monday. Good luck.

Take the car to the dealer, and insist that they call BMWNA. In the meantime, what I did when I got the orange warning, was I waited until the warning went away, then I drove the beejesus out of the car about a mile from home, and bingo - tranny failure. Before that I had been getting about one warning a month, and had taken the car into the dealer multiple times, and there was never any 'error code' that they could pinpoint to fix the warnings.

With the new tranny, I have not gotten a single warning, under any circumstance. My take is that if you're getting warnings for no reason, there is something wrong, and the dealer needs to contact HQ.

Funny-I had the same thing happen to me yesterday; from what others have been through it sounds like the steering assist sensor "SAS" needs to be replaced. Its funny but I will probably need to let the SA know about this because I have a feeling that mine is clueless on this.

I just took the car for a drive, the other faults came back again... i drove for about 5km's. The transmission seems to be working fine, although the DSC is not working and the car is rolling when in hill (Start Assistant Inactive) There is also the DBC Failure!.

SAS/SZL sensor must be replaced. There is a recall on this, so check with your SA. It's an easy fix, with quick turnaround (provided the parts are in stock).

It's the SAS (steering assist or steering angle sensor) I had the same thing. The errors were coming and going. There is a repair kit for this that replaces just the deffective optical wire. The optical wire somehow is not letting the light through as it should, so all the systems that need the input from steering angle sensor are reporting faults.
If they replace the whole unit, it could be that you will still get the unit with the optical wire that was made from the same defective material. So, ask them to get the repair kit. Good luck!

Ok, i just talked to a nice guy (Eduardo) in the dealer and he told me to disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected for at least one hour before taking the car to them. I was surprised to see that he already new the car was an M5 when i told him about the malfunctions and that he was working on saturday at 6+PM. Tomorrow they're not open and he asked me to give him a visit on monday if the battery thing does not help.

This is the first time ever i get a warning, but the 6 of them came all together!
