M or Power button for power ?

Lets see what drivers chose to press when wanting power especially after reading that the S6 setting could actually harm your clutch on the long run. So is it power or the M button ?

Hit power as soon as i start up (just in case) so running in P500 S5 all day long.

Press the M-button only when I really need it as it's set to S6 and don't like driving round without my tranny nanny in the wet on a regular basis.

i voted for second choice, i used to press the M button when i needed the extra 107 horses, but now i changed my behavior, for my fun i press the power only when there is a race i press M.

P.S. nice thread Black M5

I agree with UFH - while the poll is an interesting one, it is not terribly well conceived.

Having said that, I will vote and add that I almost never use the power button, because I love the throttle reactviity of P550S, and that's the only way to get at it.

Power button gives P500 and leaves my heads up in normal mode, and I programmed my M button to P500sport, edc sport, dsc off, S6, and heads up display for rev counter.

Usually drive the car in P400, for some nice acceleration I use the power button, and for total madness or high speed Autobahn runs I use the M button. For racing other cars the power button suffices.

Frank.

As soon as the car warms up, I hit the M button, which is programmed to P500S, EDC sport, DSC off, and S5. I drive this way most of the time. While the motor and gearbox are still cold, I leave it in P400 and S3.

I really don't see the point of any sequential mode other than S5 or S6. S3 is too slow. S4 is OK, but it's such a small difference between S4 and S5.

I have never tried 'D' mode. What's the point?

Speaking of the "M" button, I wish i had 3 or 4 "M" buttons.
1M for P500S, MDM, S5, M View HUD, EDC Level 1
2M for P500S, DSC OFF, S6, M View HUD, EDC, Level 3
3M for P500 S, DSC Normal, HUD normal so I can see the Nav directions, EDC Level 2
4M for P400, EDC Level 1, etc.

I hit the power button as soon as the car is started. After owning a Vette Z06, the M5 is rather lethargic without P500! It makes D mode shift MUCH SMOOTHER when I feel too lazy & mellow to run in S5.

The M button turns off DSC, S6, & P500S for max fun.

I haven't quite got into the habit yet as I had with the E46 M3, start then sport button but intend to get into the habit on M5:

Start button - M Button (set to P500s, HUD M View and everything else unchanged).

I hit the power button as I accelerate in second gear. You can feel that extra 100-hp kicking in. It's kind of fun.

I hit the power button before I even leave the garage (almost never drive in 400hp, and never below S5), and the M button a minute or two later, when the car has slightly warmed. Will use the M sport settings a little less as the winter months hit and conditions change, but it gets the vast majority of my driving.
