Just picked up an 06' M5.

Hey folks,

I've been a lurker here for the past month or so while looking for an E60 M5 (thanks for all of the useful info) and I finally picked it up last week!

Its an Alpine White with black interior and my god, its by far the best BMW I have ever owned. The combination of performance, comfort and technology is perfect. I had heard many negative things about the iDrive system, but I have no problems with it thus far. And as for the SMG debate, well I guess you cant please everyone. I'm coming from an 03' M3 w/ SMG, so the M5 transmission is step-up in quality and refinement.

I'm glad to finally post as an owner!

Hey Andrew, congrats and welcome to the M5 board. It's good to see another Beast owner in the San Diego area!! Will you be interested in participating with other SoCal owners in our periodic meet/drives?? They're usually on a Sat or Sun morn. Just had one last Sat in L.A. with 35 owners/cars. The next one will probably be organized in Feb for a San Diego back country roads excursion. We always have a lot of fun!!

I think the wait to get the car is the most annoying as that is what I am doing now. Like everyone said, congrats and enjoy. Please post some pics. I have a black one on the way... Michael
