weight of beast?
I am working with an AP-22 and one of the inputs required is total mass. Anyone here tell me what the exact mass would be with 18 gallons of gas and 220lbs of driver. I believe the ""curb weight is 4,000 lbs, but I am not sure what that all includes. I will have to deduct around 28 lbs for the DINAN exhaust.
thanks in advance.
I had some problems with the AP-22 at first but after a month of working with their tech support, it is now working.
I will begin posting some of the performance mesurements shortly with all of the Modifications. In addition, I am going to post the results from my 550 maranello as well to see the comparisons.
I am way psyched...

bobpommer,
The laden weight stated in the M5 manual (4016 lbs? - I don't have the exact figure in front of me) includes the weight of the driver (not sure of the wt. they use - 150 lbs? - often listed as avr. wt of a human - male and female) PLUS a tankful of fuel ( approx. 7.5 lbs per gal x 18 = 135 lbs). So the actual wt. of the vehicle is approx. 3731 lbs. Add 135 Fuel + 220 (you) = 4086 - 28 lbs (for exhaust) = 4058 lbs. Again check that laden wt. figure in the manual and do the math.
Mass is often in kilograms, if so, divide the wt. in lbs. by 2.2 to convert.

Bob,
I think I have figured out a simple solution. Drive your car over to your local dump and get it weighed on their vehicle scales. They will probably do it for free.

I went to a local moving and storage here in town. They acted like they weigh cars all the time. They charged me $10. It was really easy and takes away a lot of the guess work. (3686 lbs with a full tank of gas and no driver).

That sounds a bit light. I wonder how accurate these scales are

My girl must be a little porker since she weighed in at 4190 (empty car) with about half a tank and without me in it.

Here are the numbers I was working with before actually going to the scales:
Curb Weight: 3748 lbs
Minus stock spare: Any help?
Dinan 5-spoke wheels: 20lbs - stock = -lbs
Supercharger: + ? lbs
Dinan stage 3 suspension: Any change?
UUC lighten flywheel/clutch: -13.5 lbs
Dinan exhaust: 18.5 - 34 = -15.5 lbs

Those scales are definitely off. Mine weighed 3921 lbs with 1/2 tank of gas and empty except for a few things in the glove box and normal stuff in trunk -- this was when it was stock, measured a few years ago. | | |
