Solving seatbelt discomfort

My 5' 5" wife complains that the seatbelt on the passenger side is positioned incorrectly - it passes by (and rubs) her neck, rather than her shoulder. The belt is adjusted automatically, so it cannot be lowered to be better positioned on her. Any suggestions other than the belt pad that I see advertised in many auto supply catalogues? The belt pad is not a very good solution because it doesn't address the strap location problem.

Since the seat belt adjusts automatically, try moving the seat back and forth, or up and down to see which way lowers the shoulder belt. Try a seating position then that has the lowest belt location.

Or try starting with the following seating position. Raise the seat to where only 2 inches of headroom remain. This is recommended by the BMW Performance Center and others for a driving position. This could help the shoulder strap issue.
If its the drivers seat, then move the seat forward to be a comfortable reach to floor the clutch and brake pedal. Then adust the steering wheel where her wrists hit the top of the wheel with arms straight. This puts the arms at a slight angle when gripping the wheel properly and at a good distance for the air bag.
