Oil sensor issues

Hello out there everyone,

First just let me say that I have performed some searches on this topic and have gotten some real good info, so thank you.

Still have some prblems here though with the oil sensor re-setting. I have followed the manual and the advise of others on here.

1. Warm the car up
2. Idle for at least 60 seconds
3. Car needs to be on a flat surface
4. hold the button on the stick for the clock

I added a quart when the car told me to do so, I was at an 0.2 reading. Since I have added and tried re-setting cant seem to get off the same old 0.2 reading!!

What gives here? Bad sensor?

Dealer told me he hasn't replaced any sensors as of yet and wants to have a look.

Thanks again folks for any input here.

Go drive the car on the highway solid for about 20-25 minutes. Then stop and do the procedure again.

So guys, should I fill a quart at 0.2L or wait till it hits 0.0L?

Got a quart sitting in the trunk just for this. 1700km and the reading went down from 0.9 to 0.2L. Breakin service is due soon.

Wait until 0.1 and drop 3/4 of a quart in. It should bring your level to 0.8. No need for more than that.

I've finally been able ti figure out a little more about the oil sensor logic - from personal experience, this discussion group and the dealer. If you don't regularly drive your car for more than about 20-25 miles the level indicator won't change. If this goes on for extended period of time - like 2 weeks or so, it will automatically try to take an "quick" reading. So, your level indicator can go from reading a number to reading -.- all by itself. you will note that as soon as you stop the vehicle -at a traffic light for example - it will display the little clock which indicates it is taking a reading. This will however take a minute or so and if your stop light changes too soon and you start driving before it is done it will try again the next time.
I would do what the manual says and add a quart when it says .1 or 0 or -.1 but be warned that it can go from .8 to .1 on one longish drive depending on how the car was driven previously so keep a quart in the car.
If you add smaller amounts the reading won't necessarily change immediately.
Just my observations.....

Oil sensor issues

My oil level was down to the 0.2L level over the weekend so I added about a half a bottle and then drove the car about 40-50 miles. I re-checked the oil levels and it had reset to 0.8L.

I'm thinking the same about my readout. I just did the 1200 mile service. When I bought in the Beast it read 0.7. After service it still read 0.7. Yesterday a did an oil measurement following the manual's procedure. It still read 0.7.
