Just read the article in BMW Car. Here's some details:
Special Big-end bearings are fitted, lighten the con-rods by 15pc, shot speen and balance them and use stronger big end bolts, new light weight piston with deeper valve pockets to allow for the high lift camshaft fitted. Stronger valve springs are fitted and the 6 throttle bodies are machined to a 52mm inner diameter, up 2mm from stock. Ram pipe increased by 1mm, cylinder heads gas flowed which in itself gains 5 -7 Bhp and compression ratio is 13.1:1. Apparently it really needs 98 Octane petrol and in tests depending on Octane Bhp has varied from 385 - 404. Highest figure was obtained using Shell optimax. ECU is totally remapped with top speed limiter removed and rev limit increased to 8,600!!!
They also improved the exhaust manifold and obviously the exhaust which has diameter of 64mm.
Ride height is lowered by 30mm, bigger anti-roll bars, strut brace, 19" wheels (8J 235/35 ZR 19 and 9J 265/30 ZR19). Short shift gear change is fitted, speedo up to 340 Km/h (212 Mph). Only change to brakes is uprated pads although they do offer upgraded brakes for those doing track days.
404bhp @ 8,300rpm (That's 135bhp per litre!!!)
300 lb ft (407Nm) of torque @ 4,200rpm
0-60 - Under 5secs
Top Speed - 196 mph (313 Km/h)
Sorry for it being so long but shows how much work they are doing to the engine to get an additional 61bhp (18%). Did not mention cost but I assume will make a big hole in your wallet!!
