Ltd ed BMW M3 CSL

Bmw have, in the UK at least, announced that they will be building a limited run of new M3 's, to be known as the CSL, it is a lot lighter with no options, i.e. no A/C, electric windows/roof etc etc, plus with 'club' semi race tyres which have, apparently a lot more grip but have a third of the life of normal road tyres.
During testing on the 'ring' it lapped a full 10 secs faster than the std M3. The engine is not a tuned item, as the 6 is apparently at it's ultimate for reliabilty.
They are producing 1000 only, so order them now if you want it.

how much lighter? how much will it take off the 1/4 mile and the 0-60 times?

It's quite a bit lighter by all accounts, but the - times are not far removed from the originals time, they are quoting 0- in around 4.6/7ish secs. but mid range punch has improved. I'll find the article and elaborate on it later.
You should be able to order it via your cheerfull local dealer.

If I can remember correctly the numbers in Autocar were as follows:

Weight = 1420 Kgs (150 Kgs less than M3)
0-60 = 4.5 secs
0-100 = 10.5 secs

Limited production possibly only 1000 Units. Launch at Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

wow, that sounds like a good deal!! Now all you gotta do is get rid of the seats, put in sport seats, that takes off another 200 lbs...you could stand a chance against a ferrari!
