Key Remote and car programming options

After reading the list again, I am not so sure that I understand all of the items. Can you guys have one more go at it, please?
1. Anti theft system.
- Set by door lock or set by remote control

How to set the alarm. We choose if done by remote or key?

2. Visual arm / disarm. on/off

Flashing of 4 way flasher lights to indicate alarm is armed or disarmed. Choose if this happens or not?

3. Power locks.
- Remote control of interior lights on/off.
Want light to go on when unlock doors by remote?
- Autolock after 2 min on/off
Locks the doors after 2 min? or not?
- Autolock on drive away (5mph) on/off
Lock the doors on drive away, or not?
- Selective door locks ie: one press opens drivers door only double press opens all doors and boot (trunk)
This one is clear.

4. Window and roof controls.
- One touch is selectable for each door and the roof independently; open and/or closed. (think about this before asking questions)
- Total closer from remote on/off
- total or partial opener from remote on/off
I think I have this, too.
5. interior light soft on or off on/off.
Is this whether the lights dim slowly or just go off all at once?
6.External lights.
- DRL on/off
Daytime running lights - thanks Anzir.
- Home lights on/off/40s/90s/150s/240s
Headlights stay on after engine off. Thanks 1coolvc.

7.Accoustic warnings key on/off
What is this?

8. Heating A/C and vent settings key seletive on/off by key 1/2.
If there are two drivers, the car will remember that I like 69 degrees and fresh air? Will it know that the other key is in the safe? Yeh, right. Two drivers - not!

9.Flaps recirc. air memory on/off
What's this?

10.A/C Cooling output high/low
Does this set a default for the fan setting? Doesn't the setting just stay the same as last use?
11. Seat/mirror memory when unlocking/when opening door on/off.
Is this like pushing the memory button on the door on other models? Why does this matter?

12. PDC volume 1-6 and switch on message on/off.
What is this, guys?

Car Memory

Here's the Car Memory list provided to me by my service representative. The factory default setting is underlined.

The Key Memory List is in the posting below.

Daytime Running Lights
When active: low intensity high beams automatically turn on when the ignition is on, enhancing visibility to other vehicles.
  • Not active
  • Active
Pathway Lighting
When active: by quickly flashing the highbeams after the ignition is turned off, the headlights remain on for about 40 seconds.
  • Not active
  • Active
Driver's Seat Position Memory
When active: the car automatically duplicates the same driver's seat position settings as the last time that particular key was used (included with each remote control key, activated by locking or unlocking the door).
  • Not active
  • Active (when unlocking the car)
  • Active (when opening the driver's door)
Armed Alarm Confirmation Signal
Alarm acknowledgement can be both visual and audible (signal lights flash and siren "chirps"), or only visual (signal lights flash).
  • Arm/Disarm confirmed both visually and audibly
  • Arm/Disarm confirmed visually only

Kay Memory

Here's the Key Memory list provided to me by my service representative. The factory default setting is underlined.

Two programmable remote control keys are provided with your vehicle. The keys can be distinguished using the color coded stickers supplied with the keys.

Automatic Locking After Car is in Motion
When active: all doors are automatically locked after exceeding a speed of 2.5 mph, providing enhanced security.
  • Not active
  • Active
Selective Central Unlocking
When active: the first time the key's "unlock" button is pressed, only the driver's door is unlocked, helping to enhance security. The second press releases all locks. When not active: the first press releases all locks.
  • Not active
  • Active
Climate Controls Settings Memory
Always Active. The car automatically duplicates the same Automatic Climate Control settings (temperature, air distribution, fan speed) as the last time that particular key was used. (Activated by starting the ignition).

Options Table

I found this Car and Key Memory Options Sheet on the Web. It looks like it is information provided to dealerships, because it includes multiple models and years.

I thought the last item, regarding the Car and Key Memory settings for audio functions, was particularly interesting, because it does not appear on the options list the dealer provides. The option does not seem to change the stored radio stations for each key, but it will return the audio settings to the last ones used with a particular key.

It seems that you have to have the dealership activate the feature in BOTH car and key memory.
Quote:
New Generation Radio - Key selective

not active

The Key Memory can be activated/deactivated for the radio settings in Car Memory. If selected “active”: tone, volume, last audio source (radio, cassette, CD), and the last radio station tuned will be recalled according to the vehicle key which is being used.

key settings

I took my car Herb Chambers in Boston for required 1200mile service and asked them to program my key so doors would lock automatically w/ motion (I have newborn baby). Ali (the service rep) wanted to charge me $49- because I bought the car out of town. You'd think authorized dealers would try to work together!

At least they washed my car after the service (and did'nt break anything).
