Let's Get Picky
By all accounts the new M5 is a great car, and I am on the waiting list.
Sometimes, however, it is the small details that cause initial enthusiasm to wane for some owners. Do the wide wheels and tires toss rocks and dirt against the side of the car so that the car is difficult to keep free of dirt and paint chips? How often do M5 wheels need to be repaired or replaced because there is too little rubber between a fast, two-ton car and the unexpected pot hole. Does the front air dam get repeatedly shredded against elevated curbs during perpendicular parking or when pulling out onto the street from driveways and service stations? The M5 is great from 2nd through 6th gears, but how well does it work from a standing start in neutral through 1st and 2nd gears? How about tire wear and wet road adhesion? Are the wheels/tires difficult to balance for smooth running? Is anyone having trouble keeping their driver's license or car insurance? ;=) Richard |
