2006 model or 2007 model?

I currently have an M5 on order with an expected delivery in June 2006. Since the 2007 models will be out shortly thereafter, I'm thinking that maybe I should delay my order in order to get a 2007 model. Does anyone know when the first 2007 models will be delivered in the USA? And, when would be the earliest that you could order a 2007 model? I still want the SMG, but would hate to get the car and it be a model year old in a month or so before I even get it broke-in good!

I hear that the earliest you will see 2007 M5s is August. So you are talking about 2 months at the shortest time. My 2 cents: are you leasing or buying. Buying you will get hurt. Leasing it wont matter.

The new model year typically starts in September (not set in stone!). Dealers should receive their September allocations in late July.

It'll be the only 2007 M5 in the world.

It appears that as of March 2006 ALL E60’s (including M5’s) will be 2007’s for the Saudi market.

There could be little if any differences from the 2006 models that will continue to be produced for the rest of the world. I bet this is just another uninformed dealer thinking that the 2007 5 series model year change applies to the M5. We'll see. I may be wrong, but it makes absolutely no sense for the Saudis to get a different year from the rest of the world. They probably come standard with 6 speed manual trannies too.

BTW, I decided to go ahead and keep the order for the SMG (as it wasn't the "default" 6-speed)!!

Well I believe it is normal for the Middle East production. I have two of my friend who recieved their car last May and they have as 2006!!

Any way I got an official confirmation from the delaer that my car is 2007 and they have charged me $1,200 for the 2007 difference. Also one of my friend he is getting in the same ship his 2007 M6.

Not to sound sarcastic (OK, I am being sarcastic), but why not wait until the 2008 model comes out? Or the 2009? Or the 2010? Heck, I bet by 2011 the M will have nuclear power. My point is that there is ALWAYS something better coming out next year. Automobile manufacturers do this on purpose. If you keep waiting, you'll never be driving anything or never be happy because something better is "around the corner".

All Parker is asking is whether he should wait the 2-3 months for the new model year because its so close- no need to get all worked up about it.
