M3 against Mitsubishi Evo VI (or whatever the latest is)

In AutoCar they are trying to find out the current fastest production cars on the roads in the UK.
They have a few tasty motors pitched against other equally nice motors.
They pitched the new EVO Mitsi with a new E46 M3. The EVO obtained terrific traction off the line and hitting 60 in 4.7 sec, the M3 just behind at 4.8 secs, but as soon as the M3 driver changed into 3rd, it was game over for the EVO, apparently speed building like a train and passing the EVO like a bullet. Stopping was just as good.
Sounded fun
Any body had a go on the road

Ha!!
What do they think ?
In a certain messageboard I read that the EVO is faster than the M3-->nice joke.
The Evo is a nice car anyway...

They thought the EVO was superb, especially the way it puts the power down but then again it does have all the goodies to enable it to do what it does. But the car of the decade so far is the M3. It was even put up against a AMG's new Merc, (V8 300+ bhp etc) and although it came close it didn't quite make it. Then again it's like placing an Alpina against a std performance Merc (if it exists) which would be a bit unfair, but just goes to show how good the M3 is, to compete against an AMG that costs about £25K more than a std E46 M3. and still better it.
Happy motoring.
