B10 Biturbo Insurance. (UK)

I'm in the process of buying a 92 B10 biturbo in UK. Insurance prices are silly @ £1000+ on 43yrs old,no points & restricted miles - 2nd car. Who is decent for this insurance?Any help would be great!!

Have always used Nowell & Richards (01785 255514) who have always managed to get me the best price on a Porsche and M5. Give them a try.

Try Key Connect(01924 207014) I was given the number by Eagle Star because they wouldn't insure M5.My M5 is my 2nd car and they have discounts for people in this postion.

Good Luck

Have you tried Norwich Union Direct. They give me a fairly good deal on my M5 which is my everyday car. Alternatively, you can get fairly good deals through the BMW Driver's Club insurance scheme.

... Try Frizzell (AKA Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company) on 0800 122 000. They offer great rates on various cars. They also offer special schemes/rates for membership of certain organisatiopns or professions (eg Civil Service etc). In September 1999, I was quoted £380 for a 1990 B10 Biturbo (I was 37 then, with full no claims etc) - not a bad quote I would say! I also have a Lancia Delta Integrale Evolution - special edition & heavily modified (ALL MODS FULLY DISCLOSED TO INSURANCE COMPANY) on which I am paying a premium of £465 - which is in fact lower than what they rate a 'standard' Integrale.

Regards,

Neil

Thanks for your suggestions- Nowell & Richards appear to be cheapest at £867, this sounds expensive if NRL's cost £380,but it still saved me £130. Key connect might be cheaper but they wanted the full reg. no before quoting- I cant see why.No doubt if I ever get this machine I'll have loads of q's to ask so its good to know there are others out there!!! Let me tell you my story in the Netherlands to make you guys in the UK feel better.

Here, they provide full coverage insurance only over the brand new catalog price. In the case of B10 Bi-Turbo this is about GBP 75,000. The age of the car, driver's age, second car are not a factor either. I therefore had to pay about GBP 1,000 even after my max 72% discount (20 years of no claim!). Normally it would be about GBP 4,000. Can you believe it? After a year of being ripped of, I've reverted to liability only.

My policy for my Biturbo in Germany (that is for me residing in Germany rather than 'visiting' on hoiday) is GBP 997 and that is after all my other discounts second car etc etc. So I am in the same ball-park figure as you Ufuk.

The £360 cost I posted earlier was for a Biturbo in the UK (that is with me being resident in the UK).

For the UK readers of this forum/board - whilst we have the saying 'rip-off' Britain for most things - I can assure you that you do not want to be paying European motor insurance rates.

I have 4 cars insured in Germany costing around £3050 (yes,I did write three thousand and fifty pounds) and before anyone asks, no they are not all exotics. Believe me, I have shopped around. To insure this lot in UK would cost me £1319. A case of 'rip-off' Europe perhaps?

Another thing is the European mobile phone market, calls in Europe (that is with European airtime providers) are quite expensive, even on contract and high usage rates. Compare this with the UK where we can get business calls at 5p or even 2p per minute. Typical German rates are still around the 30p/min mark or more on a like for like basis.

Regards,

Neil

Hello,

I am 28 years old with 75% no claim and pay hfl 2200,- (±GBP 600) for my E34 M5 for full coverage in the Netherlands.

I have to admit that it costed quitte some negotiating with my insurance intermediate who has all my insurances.

With best regards,

Raymond

Don't bother with Privilege - they gave me by far the best quote (just under £1000, I'm 28, full NCB and use LHD M5 touring everyday including blue light emergency work as a Paramedic Officer on call) but then someone pulled out in front of me (I wasn't at work, no question as to liabilty). The insurers lost the car for 8 days - it was supposed to be at BMW Birmingham, turned up at Ford Leamington Spa. Was written off on Friday - took me lots of time over the weekend trying to source another one which I did, only to be called today to be told they might not be writing it off after all. 14 days after the accident the car is in the wrong town at the wrong type of dealer and hasn't been touched. Bitter, at £9xx per year I should think I am !!!!!!!

How about trying Admiral!. I have an M3 saloon, with all bonuses and with a 7% discount for paying in one installment, cost £748.00. We was with Privelage, and wouldn't go back now either. (poor response time after an accident we got caught up in)
