Post Alpina B10 suspension

I have a B10 3.5 (E34) manufactured 10/89.The Bilstein dampers Alpina fitted to this car as standard need to be replaced, at a cost of £800 + VAT + labour !!!!
Has anyone any experience of fitting any other dampers, or any advice? I realise the car would be more valuable if kept as Alpina supplied but I'm also not happy to be ripped off (Bilstein sprint dampers for e34 535i sport = £500 approx).Any help out there?

Alpina parts can be fiendishly expensive, so I would suggest you have a word with a specialist who could give you some options.
Try Kevin Bird at Birds (01895 810850) or Barney at Munich Legends (01825 740456) or Martin Pearce at MCP Motorsport (01263 822481).
Hope this helps

Update: New Bilstein dampers (Hartge spec) supplied by Kevin at Birds for £460 + VAT., fitted today, the car is transformed and handles beautifully. Ride quality is comfortable and well balanced, without feeling too hard. Kevin was very helpful and knows his stuff! Thanks also to Bob Harper for the contact info.
