Anyone else have an e23 B9 3.5??

I am trying to locate other owners or people familiar with the e23 B9 3.5 model.

Although I obtained a letter of authenticity from Alpina regarding my car (picture in the Unofficial Alpina Homepage Register), it does NOT have an Alpina ID plate and Alpina serial number.

I was advised that in 1981/1982 not all cars received these plates, but I would like to learn more regarding this car and this period in Alpina history.

While making enquiries about my own E28 B9 3.5, Alpina informed me that only 75 E24 B9 Coupes were built.

I have owned both the rare '82 e23 B9 and just bought and sold an '83 e24 B9 coupe here in Washington State/US. I didn't know taht the e24 was that rare!

does anybody know what happened to the B9 e23 that bobby mentions in this old post?

I may start to try and track down a UK car towards the back end of this year, and I know that there can't be many of the 22 e23 B10's that Sytner produced around anymore.

Are the European version easier to track?

Well, after 2 years or so of looking for an e23 Alpina B10 here in the UK, I think I have found 2 (out of an estimated 15 or so left out of the initial production of 22!) Both are Sytner cars, but one is a special order Auto model produced in 84. but it does have an electrical problem which would need to be sorted, so hopefully, a deal can be reached.
I'll keep you posted.....................as they say!

They are because the 745 could not be built in RHD setup and therefore was never officially imported to RHD markets. This is the reason Synters actually built the E23 B9 (and BMW South Africa built the E23 745i with M635i engine).

We know the where-abouts of at least 2 Turbo 745's here in the UK, plus 1 SA 745, but all are in a rather rough state, and all were personal imports.
At the moment they are being plundered for their mechanical parts, as the bodies are rough, but we are trying to get the guy to keep hold of the SA model, because they were so rare.

Yes, the SA model would be a shame to part out.

With regards to the 'normal' 745i...Up to quite recently, you could pick up quite nice E23 745is in Germany and other European countries for beer money.

that's true, they're not exactly worth much, and if you buy one, and 'restore' it, you have to be prepared to keep it, as nobody else wants them! (so you'll never get your money back).
Here in the UK, there are 2 735i's up for sale, one is the '1 owner from new FBMWSH in opalescent green, with green velour interior, has about 95k on the clock (95,000 miles) and it's for sale at £2000.00, the other is a 2 owner car, in silver, with dk blue velour interior, approx 140k on the clock, and it's up for £1250.00, both are stunning, but they can't sell them!
