B10 BiTurbo engine info.

Hi Guys.
I know a Mechanic who bought an engine of a B10 Biturbo "complete" and installed it to an E30 323i, now the car is a street rocket.
Last week he drag raced an E21 with a B7 turbo installation he "the B10 motor" f@#@$# the B7 at 3rd really hard, it was as if the B7 stopped "although it did not".

the favor that i would like to ask you about is,does any one of u know the Compression Ratio of the B10 Biturbo and the B10 normally aspirated engine.
2-Can it be that any one of u have any pictures of the pistons of the BiTurbo, if not can u at least discribe them for me pls.

3-the same as above apply for the Combustion Chamber.

4-do u know what is the brand of the injectors of the BiTurbo.and what is the Number that is written down on the injectors that shows the size.

Finally listen to this and pls give me ur advice.
I have a BMW E30 323i year 1986, now it has a 745i engine and it is highly tunned and the speedometer goes to 300km/hr "my second gear goes to 180km/hr and my turbo engine revs till 7500RPM till it reach the cut-off"
I bought an alpina B10 engine "not turbo" but was considering turbo-charging it and swapping it with the engine on my car.I have no idea about its compression ratio, I don't know it it have the same pistons or CC as the BiTurbo I know nothing about it and I really despretley in need for ur help.

All ideas are welcomed and appreciated.
Best Regards
Nabil

Check out the unofficial Alpina homepage and look up info on the B-10 BiTurbo. I believe there is all sorts of information on the construction of the engine and the modifications to produce it.

Dear Nabil,

A couple of facts for you on the B10 engines:

Compression Ratio:
B10: 9.8 : 1
Biturbo: 7.2 : 1

Both engines use 'Mahle' forged pistons

B10 uses Bosche Motronic M1.2 fuel injection, Biturbo uses Motronic M1.2.

I am not sure whether the B10 and the Biturbo share the same cylinder head - they may be different.

As you can see from the compression ratios (CR) given above, you will need to lower the CR of your B10 engine if you wish to turbocharge it. You will also need to remap the Motronic ECU (not sure if this can easily be done).

You might find it a lot easier to get hold of a 'standard' Biturbo engine and install that as Alopina have done all the hard work, rather than modify the B10 engine.

In my experience of engine mods, once you start changing one variable you have to tweak a whole host of others and before you know it you have spent a lot of money. Fine, you gain a lot of experience by doing so, but do you have a better engine at the end of it (and as reliable) than say a 'stock' Biturbo motor? My advice for what it is worth would be to source a Biturbo engine.

Oh, and good luck.

Regards,

Neil

Sorry, that should be:

"B10 uses Bosche Motronic M1.3 fuel injection, Biturbo uses Motronic M1.2."

Cheers,

Neil

Oops again, it should be:

"B10 uses Bosch Motronic M1.3 fuel injection, Biturbo uses Motronic M1.2."

Cheers,

Neil
