seat in U.S.

i know that when u get ventilated seats in the U.S. u get the comfort seats, but does anybody know why?? is this an advantage or a disadvantage? i ordered the ventilated seats just because i think its a neat feature to have, but i dont really like the looks of the seat. I bet they will start puttin the non comfort seats in the m5 in future years when u get the ventilated option

I have not sat in the perforated seats, but based on reports here, it appears that both types of seats are very comfortable and supportive. So, it sounds like the appearance difference is the biggest difference.

I don't know why BMW would cease using the "comfort" seat design when ventilation is ordered.

Re: seat in U.S.

The only seats I have seen in person are the articulated, ventilated seats. They are comfortable and very well made. I opted for the M sport seats however. Personal preference. No insight on ventialted sport seats.

The comfort seats that come with ventilation are the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. They are the same as offered in the 5 series as a $1,200 option, except these seats have active bolsters, headrest, ventilation, and upgraded leather and stitching. If you check out the opinions of 5 series owners, the comfort seats and the Logic 7 are the two top rated options for the car.

How do you go about cleaning the perforated leather?

Re: seat in U.S.

The ventilated comfort seats in my M5 have been the first thing that each person riding in the car have raved on. I will truly say they are the most comfortable automobile seats I have ever sat in, by far.

Re: seat in U.S.

I couldn't agree more with what's already been said. I had no idea I was getting the comfort seats, all the picks from Europe showed the "other" seat. The comfort is superb, quality feels/looks great but time will tell how my silverstone will look as it is lighter than I thought (but not unhappy). Can't tell about the ventilation yet, but sounds cool . Active side bolsters are fun and effective.

I use Leatherique cleaner and conditioner. I just put a dab of the cleaner on a clean cotton rag and wipe. (You don't want to pour the liquid on the seat if it's perforated). It works quite well, and with the Silverstone interior I need to use it often.

From what I've heard, the Leatherique is the best cleaner/conditioner you can use. The cleaner is PH balanced, and conditions as well, so you can use the cleaner often without damaging the leather. I'm not sure if you can do this with the Lexol cleaner.

I've also heard about problems with the color wearing off on the lighter color leather seats in the 7 series cars. Hopefully regular cleaning/conditioning should take care of this also.
