Faulty Oil Reading

A number of people have posted about their oil gage not reading properly. I'd like to share my experience. I had my car serviced at 1200 miles, and since there was no filter available, they changed oil without changing the filter. I'm bringing the car back on the 28th and they'll change the oil and filter then.

When I got the car back, the oil gage read .7L. A few days later the display dropped to .6L and stayed there for several days. I reset the gage, drove a while and the display came back on at .6L. So, I put in about .4L of oil.

The next morning, the display still read .6L, so I reset it, and drove to work. After several weeks of multiple resets and driving some 600 miles, the gage still reads .6L.

I'm not putting in any more oil, since there appears to be something wrong with the gage. Has anyone else experienced this? I'll get some type of answer when I bring the car in for service on the 28th.
