2001 Red M5 in Alpharetta, GA at Team Chev. in Northpoint

It looks like Team Chevrolet in Northpoint has a 2001 Red M5 w 39k mi for $35k. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this car. I believe the dealer is on Mansell Road in Alpharetta. $35k seems pretty low for an '01 with that low mileage. If anyone in the area could stop by and check it out and let me know, that would be great. VIN WBSDE93451BZ98781

Thanks

If you think this price is low then go to www.autotrader.com or www.carsonline.com and check out how many M5s are available for $30K to $45K, Unlike the earlier M5s BMW made too many E39 M5s and E46 M3s ( great for BMW, but not for the current owner who wants/needs to sell his/her car), the market is currently flooded with used M5s/M3s. If you think the prices are cheap for the used M5/M3s, just wait until BMW unload/saturate the market with E60 M5s and the new v8 M3, there will be bargain E39M5s/E46 M3s everywhere, including the older models. Definitely not rare or exclusive anymore, just turning into another car on the road.

9,000 total E39 M5's in North America is not too many. The new M3/M5's will hurt the E39's price but they are still pretty rare except compared to true Exotics.

Re: 2001 Red M5 in Alpharetta, GA at Team Chev. in Northpoint

Blackbook average retail is $39.4, wholesale $37k. Price seems right and mileage is good. I'd 1) ask for previous owners name and number, 2) talk to previous owner, and if this checks out 3) have BMW mechanic take a close look.

Chart,

Thanks for taking some time to take a look at it later this week. The sales guy left me a message and went on and on about how nice it was, but nothing can compare to an M5 owner's opinion. Thanks again!
