The waiting is killing me...
just spoke with my dealer. my car is set for a Sept. build, early Oct. delivery. to be honest, the wait is killing me. my lease ended on my '02 M5 in July. I'm currently driving an '05 M3 which is nice but a far cry from the M5. I do about 50 miles of driving to/from work everyday and I really miss the high end pull you get with the M5.
By the way, if anyone knows someone who is looking for a brand new M3 please let me know. I'm trying to find someone who will take over my lease. Ther car is very sweet, Jet Black with Cinammon interior. lease payment is $850. I have roughly 33 months left/12,000 miles a year. I'm in CT.

Re: The waiting is killing me...
I am the same way. I can't stand the wait especially after reading all the experiences that the owners are having (except for the one where it's stolen) I'm just glad that I am leaving the country for a month in 2 weeks, so that will at least help my cause of the wait.

Re: The waiting is killing me...
I hear you brother. I'm in the second wave and have been told to expect an early November delivery. I sold my '01 M5 a while back and I'm driving my classic Ford Galaxie 500 as a daily driver. It's well restored and gets a lot of attention, but on the highway it's like driving a Conastoga Wagon with the wind whippin' through the convertible top and the gaz guzzling horses howling from the massive V8. I can't wait to back in an M5 again.

Same situation for me with Oct delivery. At least you are driving a nice M3, I am driving a 2003 3/4 ton Yukon XL . It's enormity is making my commute extra long. I went with Silverstone over black...what about you?

What are you guys griping about? At least you guys aren't waiting for a 2008 model!!!! (Thank God for my M3) You guys should be happy about getting THE Ultimate Driving Machine sooner than most people in country. You guys should be thinking blissful thoughts of the fast turns and the looks of people when you burn coupes on the track with your family sitting by your side. Think of it this way at least you're accumulating interest between now and when you sign the papers.
But seriously suck it up and be happy. Congrats by the way and show us some M5 porn when you get those bad boys in your stables.

Re: The waiting is killing me...
Now let's see.... I put a hefty deposit down and ordered the car back in early 2003. I was promised car number 1 in Belgium but this was put back due to the 'Individual' nature of my vehicle.
Delivery was originally promised October 2004 but production was delayed so the date was put back 'till March 2005. Then they told me June and then the oil pump issue came up so it was September.
The car is finally at my dealer and I pick it up in a week's time.
I'd say the wait has already killed me many times over!

In that case you must be a cat [9 lives]. But man, you really have been waiting a long time. When I decided on mine it was the beginning of July and it was really the last day we could make changes to the options list before it went into production. And now I already have 600 km. on it.
I guess it the same as with sex. The longer you hold off, the bigger the climax..?

Re: The waiting is killing me...
Lest I be misconstrued, I am just happy to have wheels at the moment. Unfortunately, I gave up my 1979 911SC Targa spring '04 when I decided to get the M5. Its a long story, but my sister essentially traded me for the Yukon at that time. Two kids in an old Porsche with no rear seatbelts just doesn't work well.
