I upgraded my '89 model from fan to throwing star. Please double check that the covers fit. Even though they have the SAME part numbers at least the '89 wheels are different to the later ones so the throwing stars do not fit and you have to buy the whole wheels which is about 5 times more expensive (i did it nevertheless...)

Uff, forgot to mention:

the covers fit, but the bmw logo in the middle of the wheel does not fit because the cover does not fit... etc etc

Markus,

No problems with my 1990 M5, but I bought new rims anyhow, so I could use the old fan wheels for my Pirelli wintertyres.

If you buy the throwing star covers, be sure you use locktite 243 for locking the M6*20 screws.

With best regards,

Raymond

The throwing stars use a smaller bolt than the turbines to attach to the wheel.
