E34 M5 Steering

I recently eliminated the rear self-leveling system and replaced it with Bilstein sport shocks and H&R sport springs. The hydraulic feed and return lines at the power steering pump were properly closed (done by a competent mechanic). The steering now feels noisy and also vibrates slghtly. These symtoms are more pronounced right after a cold start and also particularly when turning left. Does anyone know what is causing these problems?

I had the same thing done last Fall with no problems....except I did notice later that I was wearing the outside edges of the front tires. I just had them aligned and balanced. It seems that many shops will replce the springs/struts and not do a realignment, but that seems silly to me. It must be almost impossible to guesstimate perfectly where the new camber/castor settings will be.
I suggest alignment for you, even if that is NOT causing your symptoms...which it may be.
