Cracked 18" M Parallel spoke wheels

I read in the new BMW Car this weekend about a guy having problems with his 18" m Parallel wheels on his 95 M5. I think he had three wheels that were cracked and needed to be replaced. Check your wheels, this could be a very expensive and more importantly dangerous situation.

Hans is absolutely right. These wheels (as well as the 17" standard M5 model) are forged. Any repair by welding disrupts the strength distribution of the rim, and weakens the metal at the point of welding.
Porsche has the same (rare) problem with the fuchs wheels (same manufacturer). Trust those who know, and told me: you DO NOT want to have the tire and rim overtake you, leaving only the center part on the hub...
Cracked rims make real nice - and expensive garden hose holders. The ultimate BMW freak accessory.
Regards, George.
