Ordering from Belgium

Hey,

I'm from the UK and am looking into buying an M5. I went to my BMW dealership yesterday, they said that they have already have 12 orders and even if I put my name on the waiting list now I wouldn't get the car until sometime in 2006!

Does anyone know when I will be able to get a RHD from Belgium? And what sort of price will I be paying? I think I saw someone mention £58000 but that was for a LHD if I remember correctly..

Thanks again,

I could have it around end 2005 (Q4), but settled for March 2006 since getting an M5 in the middle of winter didn't make much sense to me, plus advantages of having a 2006 and not 2005 car (resale!) and some extra dosh buffer is always welcome in case some new expensive options surface in the meantime!

And it so remarkable how many RHD M3s I've seen in the showroom (almost all cabs!) So they are used to the paperwork! PM me for details if you want.

Re: Ordering from Belgium

I put my order in with a hefty deposit back in February 2003 to get a slot.

RHD production will inevitably lag behind LHD, but it will be possible to order RHD at Belgian dealers for a small premium (usually around 1000 Euros). As JohnH as said before, the UK pricing and specs are pretty competitive compared to the E39 so I doubt many UK people will end buying in Europe this time around.

I am buying from Belgium because I want LHD - don't ask

Re: Ordering from Belgium

One of the main reasons I wanted to buy from abroad was because I had heard I will be able to get it earlier? Is this not the case?

Ashok, when are you expecting yours?

Re: Ordering from Belgium

First European deliveries (Germany) are scheduled for late November.

If you order now it probably won't make much difference since I doubt any 2005 slots are left.

I won't be getting mine for "at least another 3 months extra" due to my Individual colour choice.

Re: Ordering from Belgium

I wouldn't be surprised if slots open up ones cars start showing up at dealers. This is what almost always happens with high-end cars that have a waiting list prior to launch, as some drop out and allocations vary from what dealers expect.

Also, within a few months of launch there should be several "used" examples for sale by private parties. Patience pays dividends in this game, similar to jumping into the stock of a new IPO, rather than waiting for the demand to subside, the hype to disappear, and for reality to set in.

Cheers, Daniel.

Re: Ordering from Belgium

I think you will find that when you order a RHD in Europe it still comes out of the UK allocation so dont thiunk you will get it any quicker. If like Ashok you want LHD then you should be able to get one a lot quicker. Would be very careful if you find a dealer in Europe who can offer you an early delivery on a RHD M5 as the likelyhood is they are just doing it to get your order.
