My B&M SS Review

I have installed a B&M short shift last week....I have order from US....It costed me $230 delivedred at the door....I tookan latest Isolated version..with a rubber ..on thier web site the shift reduction for M5 is 20%....

The instalation costs were $35 by a mechanic and took about 40min...cause he coulnt unscrew someting at the bottom of the car....one it was done 20mins fitting everything together....

First thing I noticed is it harder to shift the gears then OEM shift...

The real benefit comes that is more firm and presise...Just bang 1st, bang 2nd and so on....makes you want to cheged the gears more often....

I am really enjoy it now....Shifts are way faster and more direct....Shiftsknob a bit lower now, which I find more comfotable for my hands.....

Not metal noises or something like that I've head of other SS on the market.....Very smooth...

Great buy and worth every penny....would advice to anybody....

Sounds good.

I need to get one. I just need to find a shop in Los Angeles that is good.

You might save some by doing it in Moscow for $35

Re: My B&M SS Review

Rus,

while the B&M is one of the lesser used SSK's here on the board...it has to be good. Its a B&M. Glad to hear that you like it.

2003...if you want a shop to install a SSK of your choice... call Renn Sport 310 877 8715. They are currently installing my Supercharger pkg on my m5, and i would only trust one other human on earth to touch my car in such a delicate fashion.

B&M is good

UUC is wonderful

Autosolutions...from what i hear is good

Rogue..had it, didnt last. UUC is better but has a bit more NVH

Re: My B&M SS Review

Thanks for the information.

I will give them a try -- I am tired of being given ***ty service by LA tuners. Needless to say, it all started when a RMS supercharger (Osh put in) "freaked" out and blew up my M3's engine . . . It would be great to know there is a good, reliable shop around the corner! Thanks again.

Does the UUC shifter make less noise than AA's?

I also want to put in a rear sway bar (and was thinking of Dinan's). Can RennSport do this or will they suggest another brand?

Take care.

P.S. Should I ask for someone or are they all good?

Re: My B&M SS Review

i would love to give you some idea of the UUC vs the AA but i have yet to experience the AA system. I would say that the AA is quite good (i know most of the guys there on a pretty good basis) and they do not distribute junk. It might be a bit less NVH but honestly...i have not one bit of knowledge on that one.

If you do happen to call UUC...Ask for Arjun or Rob Levinson. Tell them that Rob Kolar sent you.

If you happen to call AA, ask for Alvaro or Rey...tell them the same.

If you happen to go for the sway dinan is the only one that i know (maybe GC) that offers just the rear.

If you contact Renn sport you actually will be contacting Sam Lee, i gave you his cell number. Again, tell him that I refered you to him. He is my contact there and is in charge of sales but he can also direct you through service as well. They will install anything under the sun you want.

Dont EVEN get me started on OSH!

Thanks for the information.

P.S. After my last post was up for a bit, I thought to myself "I probably shouldn't have mentioned you know who . . ."

Thanks again.
