Finnish SRC rally cross series!

The Finnish AKK (local part of FIA) has launched a new Rally Cross series which looks very promising. It has been designed keeping in mind expense, good looking slides and spectators.

The SRC vehicles are RWD (with FWD and 4WD being converted into RWD) with the limitations in engine being only that it has to be Naturally Aspirated and from the same manufacturer (At least in the "wide" sense of things). The limitations in displacement are made with the weight advances given to smaller engines. As follows:

2000 cm3 810 kg
2200 cm3 840
2400 cm3 860
2600 cm3 930
2800 cm3 1030
3000 cm3 1130
Over 3000 cm3 1230 kg

Gearbox sequential of manual.

The first properly working car was a Volvo S40 converted into RWD and with 2.8 engine pushing out 330+ HP (with the with 1030kg!) Car was given to test for Markku Alen and Juha Kankkunen who will be joining the series with a M3 (not sure but supposed to be E46). The old WRC Maestros liked the car and the feel very much and anticipated a great series. Work has begun on different cars including M3s Imprezas, Mitsu Evos and others.

The first season will be only 5 races with more to come next year.

Drivers participating must have a EU standard Racing license.

It would be possible to join this with a M5 and a few other great cars. Hopefully this will really take off!
