Nürburgring BMW CCA School in 2004, anyone?

Any BMW CCA members interested in doing the yearly Nürburgring BMW CCA School in 2004?

They haven't settled on a date yet... due to the fact that the Grand Prix hasn't yet settled on their date.

The school is 3 days on the Nordschleife, surrounded by several days of other automotive events in Germany.

All cars in the school are shared between 2 drivers, and I'm looking for a "co-driver".

I'm just planning ahead. I'd much rather sign up with a self-chosen co-driver, (especially if they are a fellow M5-er) instead of having one assigned.

You need to have completed a few track schools already, as this school is not designed for novices.

PM me or post here.

I'm definitely planning to be there. I may or may not already have a co-driver - he needs to get off his arse and start hitting those driving schools more frequently. By that time I should have around 25 schools under my belt, and I have already driven the Nordschleife for an hour, which doesn't really help because I know that I can't remember much of it

I can't wait til this happens - I was going to go last year but for various reasons was not able to. If you want to see details on my trip there from last May, you can go here:

Louv,

That is definitely a long term goal of mine, but not my wife's! We plan on going to Germany in 2006 for the World Cup. I will have to wait on the Ring. I have heard some great stories of flogginf 320i's around the Ring. I hear once you know it you can really blow by some expensive cars.

I will have to be satisfied with Buttonwillow, Infineon et. al. for a few more years.

The prerequisites for the class are:
-Must be a member of the BMW CCA
-Must have taken at least 5 or 6 High Performance Track Schools (this is not a school for Novices)

There aren't any links yet (becaue they haven't settled on a date), but watch the BMW CCA LA Chapter Web site for more info.

I think there is a club in England that coordinates participants from your side of the pond.

Watch this page for more info: http://c311.c3biz.com/c3racing/

or send email to Dan Tackett -- tackman "at" san.rr.com

Re: Nürburgring BMW CCA School in 2004, anyone?

perhaps the BMW CCA is more conservative than some others ....

last year I went on the program, and my total previous experience consisted of one track day in a caterham with a driving coach. it was a great time, but basically if you're a decent driver you'll do fine and the others in your group will help you quite a lot. just don't show off, because the Ring is not a forgiving place

btw, I'm an American living in London. and I went in an Alpina B10 Biturbo (think E34 M5, but faster off the line and 180mph+ top speed) which I had bought only a few months before..... this summer I'll be there in a B6 3.5 (think E30 with a 254 hp engine from a 735i -- a bit slower than the B10, but a lot more fun in the curves)

if you're in the UK, check out the BMW Car Club GB website (Better Driving Days part of the Forum) for local contacts

Dan just sent out email the other day. Looks like the event is definitely on for August. I'll be there in whatever rental car I can get

Redshift & Lasseoe-

I still need a driving partner. Drivers are required to share a (rental) car and switch off during the class.

Either of you want to commit to doing The 'Ring in August?

Signup will happen in April, so we have a little more time.

So, you're saying that when you sign up you HAVE to have a partner ? I assume you use BMWs 330's and M3's for this, and this is why they want you to have a partner, so you share a car through the day, they probably also want you to stay focused and not get too tired.

I'd probably be up for partnering, I mean if you have to then it might as well be one from the M5 board
