M6 ??

Here's M6 I think they're testing the engine on the car look at the wheels same as the M5 ones.

I don't think we will see the M body kit any time soon until near production just like the M5 started with regular 530i bumpers.

No quad exhaust

Hi

Thanks for the pics.

The M5 test mule didn't have the M kit but still had quad exhaust. Any thoughts on this?

Since the 645 already appears to have an exhaust system similar to the M car they may have been able to re-use parts of it.

Basically I have no idea..

I want to believe this is the first of M6 testing and I am trying to think about how much we knew of the M5 about 10 months ago...

I hope they make the M6 exhaust closer together like on the E46 M3.

MarkF,
I recently read in german "Autozeitung" that the M6 might get close to 600HP. But this is still a rumour, from my point of view.
Anyway, I hope it has more power than the next M5 which might get a station wagon version, too
At least for family dads and as an individual option

Nice pics anyway. thanks for posting

I think the M6 should have more power because of the weight difference.

I don't follow the logic. The 6 will be (rumored) lighter than the M5, so it would need LESS power to maintain the same performance (assuming identical gearing).

I for one feel they should have the same power.

I agree. M Division has been known to produce high output engines with little or no margin left for improvement. It would seem highly illogical of them to put a detuned version of the V10 into the M5 while placing a fully optimized one in the M6.

As long as they keep the performance reasonable (given our high expectations), there should be no need to differentiate these two models by introducing a detuned engine. (Especially when taking into account that the M6 is rumored to be considerably lighter).

I have talked two days ago with a friend of mine working for BMW (FIZ in Munich). He told me that the motor has much more power then 500 PS/HP but for reason of long duration and stability they have to reduce the power to 500 PS/HP. So I think both M5 and M6 get the V10 with 500 PS.

The M6 is about 100kg lighter than the M5 and will have a more sportive setup. Just compare 645 and 545.

Later there will be a M6 CSL, with reduced weight and 550 PS. BMW will wait to see were are the problems with the new motor and if it will be correct to set the extra 50 PS free.

Adnan

PS. by the way 500 PS is much much more then we need. I have a Porsche 996 Turbo with 420 PS and I don´t need more. I will for sure buy this M6 because it gives more all day usability then my car.

QUESTION FOR MUMBASIC???

Can you give us any indication to where the upcoming M6 will be priced. Will it be close to a Porsche C4S Coupe?, 996 GT3?, or 996TT? Ask your friend who works at BMW if you can, THANKS!!

To bad they will probably not import this into a market where I can buy it. Even if they do I really hate paying extra for them to take parts off the car... I would much prefer no CSL and an option list like:

Recardo Seats ....
Brembo Brakes ....
Track suspesnsion tuning ...

I mean if Nissian can do this on the 350Z you would think that BMW could do the same.

The good news is they must have some headroom in the new engine design.

The price for the M5 will be for the basis model near the price of mercedes E55 AMG, slighly cheaper. So I think about 82.000 - 85.000 €. The M6 will be between 90.000 and 95.000 €.

Both cars have to be more expensive then Porsche 996 Carrera 2 or 4.

Greetings from Schwarzwald
