Thank you little green machine

I stopped to pick up a cup of coffee on my way from one office to another a distance of about 15 miles. I spotted a 996 with Florida plates as I was pulling out and he spotted me
We ran for a good 15 minutes, nice turns, a little parkway action, nothing crazy just nice clean fun.
I pull up next to him an low and behold the boy is a super senior with a grin so big I get to see his dentures. I nod, return the grin and we part having shared a pleasant drive that added a moment of peace to my otherwise hectic day. I’m thinking when I’m a super senior I hope I drive that well. Hell I hope I still drive.
Then I remember the coffee!
Yep, I entrusted the coffee to the magnificent BMW cup holder
It hit me like a ton . The smell first sickened my stomach, then the white Styrofoam cup lying on the floor caught my eye. Finally the dark brown stain on the Carmel carpet
I almost curbed the tires trying to reach to the floor to grab the cup. How dare such vile liquid profane my beast
I can’t even think about how pissed off I am at myself because it’s
Decision time, Car Wash ?(god forbid) Home ? (I’m not prepared for this emergency)
I need tools
I down shift
2 miles
1 minute (All Parkway)
Target (home goods isle)
I know what I need (my buddy the car junkie has one)
Spot it, The Bissell Little Green Machine and two bottles of carpet cleaner
I grab them and run to the check out, security is eyeing me $86 later and I’m
back in the beast (O my god the smell)
10 miles to go
6 minutes (mostly highway)
I pull into the garage and I don’t even bother to change. I pull out the paper towels sop up as much as the mess as I can and almost vomit
The coffee stain is Hugh. The smell is sickening.
I break open the Bissell little green machine and I’m thinking about what its going to cost for a new rug
I fill it ¼ cleaner ¾ hot water and go at it.

30 minutes later the beast is looking and smelling good as new

(God made this tool for dumb people like me)

Thank you little green machine

Frank

Very well done, I enjoyed the way you wrote your story! Could you give me some more detail on this carpet cleaning machine (i.e. whats it called, how much is it etc.)?

Thanks in advance.

Great story telling, although a tragedy, it still made me laugh the way you told it. Glad to hear you were able to get it clean, coffee stains can be almost as bad as vomit!

Travis,
The little green machine made by Bissell , cost me$68 dollars at target.
I’m sure if you shop hard you could find it on sale
This is one rocking machine that is the perfect size for cleaning the car. Notice the 4.1/2ft hose and the small head for the nooks and crannies. The machine fits just enough cleaning fluid for one rug cleaning.
Thanks Jim for posting the link and pic

p.s. Great service by TEC. The adhesive on my cupholder worn out and after a call during the WEEKEND, they mailed me a new one with return postage paid for me to return the defective one. That's what I call customer service

Frank,
another thing you can do if you dont like seeing dirty carpets, is switch the caramel colored ones for black ones. Ive done this in the M5 (caramel) and Z8 (red) and have not regretted it for a minute.

nevertheless, the carpets do need to be cleaned every now and then and I think I will pick up a little green machine of my own! thanks for the great suggestion. and I am glad you got the coffee out!

Great story, glad you were able to get those stains out.
However, now you know why the German's just don't put so much effort into cup holders in the first place.
I meet those senior Porsche drivers everyday here in Germany, infact, I had to resort to putting my brief case in the trunk with the luggage net so as to keep up with the old guys here.
I guess the real laugh is I'm also one of those older guys who skunks the everyday left lane driver not watching me in the rear view mirror.
Ken
gee I wish I knew a place to buy a real coffee to go here.

I have found what you guys need! I use to work for Brookstone and they had leak-proof coffee mugs. Since it has been over 3 years since I worked there, I decided to jump on brookstone.com and see if they still have them...which they do! For $40 you can no longer worry about spilling your coffee!

Here is the link also: http://www.brookstone.com/shop/produ...pe=subcategory

But, even with a good, spill-proof coffee cup (or any beverage container), you still need something that will hold it. I suggest you look at The Ultimate Cupholders (http://www.ultimatecupholders.com). The guy who developed them is an E39 owner.

I bought two and they work great. Look at the link and note where the cup holders mount. This is the phrase that sold me "If by chance a spill does happen . . ., it will be on your mats, not on you or on your car's expensive electronics".

Standard disclaimer: I am in NO way affiliated with http://www.ultimatecupholders.com, I'm just a satisfied customer.
