Although I don't know if it falls under the timeless classic category, I think it turned out looking pretty well. When do they come to the US?

It looks way too puffy. Has the same lines as the new Honda Accord Coupe.....except the boot.

I really like the way it looks. The only thing I dislike are the top of the kidneys, and I'm confident that will be an easy-to-fix detail. It looks great in black, IMO.

Oh, then I guess I don't think it looks good, since you're here to tell me people are stupid for having different tastes than you.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the pics. I assume 9/8/03 is August 9 2003.

Not so bad as the E60. With the M package aesthetics will improve greatly. Hopefully, I should say.

And if it doesn't cast your vote and buy elsewhere!

To all the people who say they like the new models, do you really like them, or want to like it?

I actually like them. As I said before, not a timeless classic, but not a horrible looking car. I hated the transition from E34 to E39, and as a matter of fact prefered my mothers E34 to my E39 for months. Give it time, they take time to set in. Its too bad they cant make a car that looks good from the get go, but i know im not the only one here who had fallen in love with the E34 and had to warm up to the E39....

The 5, I really like. The 6.... jury is still out for me, I have not seen enough of them to make up my mind. There are things I like, and things I do not like about the 6. But I hold off making a final decision until I see it in person. The 7... growing on me more and more. The e46... took some time as well.

JESawyer... you hit it right on the head. Everyone has different tastes. Nobody should flame anyone for liking something different. I for one like the "different" look on the 5. While I have not seen one in person yet, I think seeing it in person will only make me like it more. I am still riding the fence on the 6, but I am leaving my mind open. I didn't really like the old 6 that much either.

My 2 cents on the current/older versus new. As an owner of two e39s, one a 02 530i, and the other an 03 M5, there are definately things I do not like about the cars. With the 530i, the front below the grill and headlights is kinda dated an boring. The back looks like an older Honda, one that has no exhaust system. I like the M5 bumpers, but the rear still has that older Honda look, other than the dual exhaust. The mirrors... dull. The light upgrade to the angel eyes saved the front, before that... getting tired looking, especially when they discolor. The tail lights... better after the tail light upgrade that came the same time as the angel eyes up front, but they still don't offset the Honda look.

In summary, things change, including car design. When the e39 was released, it was not immediately accepted... it took everyone time to like it.

moosetestbestanden... your remark "Anybody who'd drop big dough on that car, only to end up looking like he's driving Dale Earnhart's bastard son's car, will be pegging the duh-o-meter" indicates your level of intelligence if someone else can't have different tastes than you. In your world... what car would ALL of us drive?

I appear to be in the minority but I like the look. Yes there are a few too many similarities to a Honda but still like it. have seen a new E60 545i in the sheetmetal and it looked much better than the pics. Suspect the same will be true of the new 6.
