Zaino Test

Thanks Greg. You saved me a lot of time, money, effort and frustration. I'll stick with the Meguiars. I can even buy it just down the street.

Greg,

Great write-up!

Maybe it's just the picures, but I think the left side looked better.

Cheers,
/Johan

RAREM5, he is a freelance writer, unfortunately I don't think he gets paid for it!

Greg, great piece.

Thanks Greg!

My arm and my wallet thank you for saving them from a similar challenge. Your findings reinforce what I've thought for some time: that many of the high priced consumer detailing products are not worth the extra money. I think I'll stick with my Meguiar's #16 for now.

Now, what are you going to do about that unsightly tape line on your rear quarter panel? You realize that you'll probably have to polish and wax the entire car again to ensure a uniform finish...

Greg,

Your usual great job here, both on the test itself and the write-up!! You have confirmed what many of us suspected?.. although Zaino (and others) performs well, it may not be worth the extra money.

I have been and continue to be a Meguiar's fan... think I'll just stick with it until something MUCH better arrives, if ever?

Thanks again!

Oh good, now I don't have to do the side by side test!!! (and I'll probably be skipping the Zaino group buy, leaving me mre money for tires and track time!)

Thanks Greg! Excellent comparison.

I just tried the "3M Professional" stuff this past week. Lost of residue, but a pretty good shine on the car. And it rained the next day, so it was fun watching the rain bead up and roll towards me on the hood. (OK, I'm easily amused)

Greg, excellent write-up. I agree with you findings. I got together with Bill (bgomez) this weekend and did a little Zaino vs. Meguiars shootout ourselves. We used his carbon black beast for the test. Bill treated half his hood with his brand new Zaino products (Z1, Z2, Z5 and Z6) and I treated the other half with my favorite Meguiars products (Body Scrub, Show Car Glaze #7 and Hi-Tech Yellow Wax #26). Neither one of us could tell any difference. Both products left a very deep glossy finish on the paint but the swirls were still there. BTW, I am referring to the fine swirls that are only visible when you get up close and under the right light condition. Bottom line, I'm sticking with my Meguiars products.

Later,
Kenneth

Excellent results! I must admit, I have purchased Zymol, Meguiars, Zaino, etc and like you, have a garage full of cleaners, rags, soaps, leather conditioners, etc. Point being, just did the Zaino deal and it looked great until my pro detailer looked at it, spent 30 minutes high speed polishing and putting his majical monkey dust lickshine whatever the hell on it and it looked unbelievable.
Point being, wash your car and enjoy it, maybe even a little high gloss polish, but leave all the real work to a pro. Just my 2 cents.
