Video of some laps at Laguna

I put a medium-resolution video of a several laps at Laguna Seca in the 996TT up for y'all. See me break my own record! See me chew up modified Vipers, Corvette Z-06's, Porsches, M3's - even a Ferrari 360 - and spit them out.

Warning. It is 80Mb - just under 14 minutes.

Laguna 2003

I am leaving in the next hour or two for wine country, won't be on line or back until Monday - so if you have questions I won't be able to answer them until then.

One thing - you will see a prototype of a product I'm thinking of manufacturing, called "See-G™" - it is mounted to the windshield. It indicates G force through 2 simple pendulums - making it possible to see the degree of cornering or braking force. You can also see trail braking in action as I transition off the brake while turning in, and to throttle before getting straight - usually before the apex.

The idea for this product is to make it easier to perceive what is going on in the car when watching a video. I believe it is also a very valuable "post-mortem" training aide. For example, I've learned that I sometimes reduce braking pressure too much during the 4-3 downshift into turn 5. I didn't know this, but the See-G™ shows it clearly - the black arrow jumps up from the ~1G decel it was at for a moment during the shift.

Watch the lateral G needle (red one) in the corkscrew - you'll see how quick the transition from right to left is.

This device is not designed to compete with or replace electronic data loggers. It should be in a totally different league price wise - I'm shooting for under $50..

I would very much like your feedback. You are my beta test. The resolution of this video ain't great (looks great on the original or DVD versions, of course)- but hopefully you'll get the idea.

Greg,

I'm gonna have nightmare about the cork-screw tonight.

Darn this is a super-upper. My adrenaline is pumping just watching this darn thing.

Question about your soundtrack:

Who were the artists who did the first and last tunes on there? I really like 'em, and would like to pick up those CD's!

Great driving, btw! Keep 'em coming!

Great Video Greg,

The sound track was a hoot.

I think your driving skiils were a bit superior for some of those guys.

The Ferrari didn't look like it was being driven as hard as it should or could.

That Porsche that flew past had some grunt. Any idea of what sort of HP he was running.

Was that a bit of age showing at the end. It is that much fun on the track, and the adrenalin is pumping that you don't realise how quickly it zaps your energy.

I'm an old fellow to at 34.

Greg can correct me if I'm wrong. I suspect Greg did his own harmonica on this 100% home production.

He is truely a Renaissance man.

One of these days, I'd like the luxury of riding shotgun with you, greg, just as chunpng has. I've driven/ridden on Laguna Seca on a motorbike before. The corkscrew is something else, isn't it? Really puts your stomach in your mouth!

Thanks for a great adrenline trip, Greg! Puts things into perspective seeing it from inside a car with a great driver behind the wheel.
