Just got my M5!
All,
I just have to share my excitement. I got my M5 about two weeks ago. Not quite new, (2002, 10.5K miles when I got it.) In two weeks I've put 2k miles on it, so I probably ought to slow down.
I've always loved cars, but never really been able to have the "Ultimate Driving Machine." I was all set to buy another practical car, but my wife (who is the greatest woman in the world) talked me INTO the M5! She said, "it's the car you've wanted since I've known you, there's no time like the present to get it, so shut up and get it!"
It's Carbon Fiber Black (which I swear looks blue in many lights), with black interior. It has a Passport SR-1, the phone attachment, and PDC. My last car before this was a 1993 Nissan Altima. So let's just say, I'm blown away. It really is the perfect balance of everything I want in an automobile. Style, grace, and it gets out of it's own way.
Okay, I'll quit now. I just wanted say how happy I am about having a real reason to be subscribed to this site!

Congratulations on your newest acquistion! That's quite a jump going from an Altima to a M5! I bet that you're pinching yourself constantly to make sure that it's really happening!
Now that you're almost back to reality, be sure to fix your avatar to reflect the M5 instead of a M3.
And the best part about your new M5 is that it's already been broken in for you! No waiting for you!

Yup, I sure am
Yeah, it doesn't seem like mine yet. Well, maybe starting to. Went to Las Vegas last week in it. Wow, quite a trip.
And I changed my Avatar. Whoops, how embarrassing.

Congratulations and welcome!
I'm totally unbiased when I say that you've made a great choice in Carbon Black Metallic Two thousand miles in two weeks isn't so hard to put on in So. Cal, especially when you're driving the beast

Congrats on the new Beast, Rasputin. What an interesting name. By the way for those of us who are trying to compile some comps on recent sales of 2002 beasts let me pose the indelicate question of price. What did you pay, if you do not mind my asking?

Rasputin:
Congratulations on your Beast!!! You are a lucky guy to have a your dream car and a very supportive wife who gets "it". She sounds just like my fiancee. I was toying with the idea of saving some money and getting a C32 AMG. She point blank told me 'Why are you going spend $55k and get a car that isn't your first choice. You will always be regretting the fact that for another $20k you could have had your dream car. Just get the M5!'. I took her advice and went for the M5. Although, she is probably regreting that move...as I have a collection of every car magazine article written about the M5 (including German and Italian language magazines...and I can't read either!!!). I'd say in the past year I have never had a day without an M5 related discussion with her. I drive her nuts...but she understands my obsession...especially when takes the Beast for a little spin.
Good Luck!!!
Tom

Congrats
Carbon Black is such a beautiful Color. It does look blue. I saw the same one in Irvine Bmw which you may have read about in previous posts.
But i am curious that the car is used. I am guess the previous owner if there was one did not take advantage of PDC.
Great Wife(definately a keeper)

I put 4000 miles the first month, and thats driving the car after work, I remeber filling the gas tank twice in one day just driving around where i live.
Each nite when i get home there she is in the garage just waitng for my next ride.
my only regret is that i cant take her everywhere like shopping, im afraid of dings, so i settle for my loredo, whenever a 540 series passes me and that guy is thinking he is all that i say to myself only if my M5 was here he would piss in his pants.
