where's my new M5, it should've been here by now!

My new titanium/silver M5 has been at the port in NJ since 2/5/03 and supposedly hasn't been through the process center! I was told it'd be a week after hittin' port when I'd see it! Hrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!: mad:

well I hope I have better luck than you do... My car arrived today in NJ and hopefully will be in CT by the 19th...

Maybe it takes 1 week to get it out of the VPC and then they have to truck it Kansas and that is taking the time?

If you have your "production #", call BMW at 800 831 1117 and ask for an update. They can tell you where the car is. Your dealer will have the prod. # to hand if you don't already have it.

Good luck..

Andre

Did your car arrive on the Tosca? If so, you were on the same ship as me, and our cars were taken over to the VPC just today! Apparently the one week delay in transferring the cars is a manifestation of the heightened security and consequent backlog going through customs. My car was supposed to ship out to me on the 10th, but looks like now it won't ship out until late this week or early next week

Call BMWNA tomorrow to ascertain that your car IS at the VPC. Heck, our cars may even end up shipping out on the same truck on Friday if all goes well

Andre, the cars should not spend more than 2 days at the VPC if there are no problems or damage incurred during shipping. The delay is at the port of entry/customs. BTW did you catch my reply to your post on Spoodle's thread?

Bush mad at Germany?

I was beginning to think Bush & Co. was giving Germany a hard time by not delivering goods/imports. I'm a little put out with my Bavarian commrades myself. I love BMW's but give me a break!

I hear you zeeohsixer. My car is crossing the Atlantic right now and is scheduled to make port in Halifax NS on Feb 19th. My dealer told me I probably would not see it until March. These next few weeks are going to drag

Regards,

T.

Guys, my car is getting to SC on (super) Sunday the 16th.

I guess they have a VPC at all these ports?

As long as it's in Spartanburg 16 days after that I'll be OK.

Yeah I did thanks... This is going to be the longest wait
It matters not that we wait the 6 - 8 weeks from order date, its the last few days knowing that the car is on US soil that seems the worst.

However, I have made plans for numerous trips that will maximise time behind the wheel. A long weekend in the Berkshires, a long weekend up to Toronto... (although with the amount of snow we have had that might have to be done in the X5).

Thanks for the help with tel. #'s etc..

Andre

I hear ya, Andre. Throughout the build/delivery process things seemed to have moved along at a pretty good clip, and then it just sits in a storage facility for a week The waiting is almost over, though, and next week will be a GREAT week

I know what you mean Zeeohsixer
My silver M5 is riding around somewhere in Germany missing.

Unfortunately, we don’t have the great BMWNA support system to run down the whereabouts after it gets built. I know it was built and then ‘handed’ over to a transport company for delivery to the local dealer here in Heidelberg. They got my money and I got it insured but still waiting for paperwork to register it and to hear it has been prepped for pick up.

Yesterday I had some business over towards the Czech boarder. I found myself checking every BMW transporter heading west looking for a silver M5 that just had to be mine!!!
My wait was probably just as long if not longer since I kept changing my mind and wanted delivery to correspond with the departure of the snow and ice.
