AC Schnitzer DFC is installed, it's great!

I had AC Schnitzer installed during this Monday & Tuesday.
All can say after driving almost 2000km with it, is that it is great!

There are three settings:

Sport, the softest one, just a tiny bit harder than stock

Intermediate, clearly harder than stock

Race track, Very stiff setting perfect for really hard driving on smooth surfaces and most racetracks

Sport is perfect for riding in the city or for driving at Swedish highway speeds (up to 140km/h)

Intermediate, suits really high autobahn speeds or twisty country roads if going fast.

Race track, is fantastic on on-ramps, off-ramps, roundabouts, or if you really want to push in corners. Should also be perfect for most race tracks.

I will go to a track this weekend so will follow up later.

These settings are changed from a panel in the car right in fron of the gear shifter. You will loose the cup holders but I can live with that.

Will post pics later.

Cheers,
/Johan

Hi Johann,
I am interested in how it works. Are you allowed to change the settings while the car is in motion? Is the car lowered as a result of the installation? Thanks in advance
Regards,
Karman

I can't really explain how it works technically, just knoiw it works fine.

You are allowed to change settings while the car is in motion and you immediately feel the difference.

The car is about 1" lower than stock, about similar as my car was with Kelleners sport-suspension.

Cheers,
/Johan

Here are some pics from the DFC installation.

Here the mechanics are working on my car's interior.

What have they done to my baby?

The DFC electronic box.

Here you see the left rear wheel and the new suspension.
As you can see they have mounted a AC Schnitzer wheel since there testdriver, Manfred Wollgarten refused to drive with my rear tires.

Here you see why.

This is the right front suspension.

If you look carefully you can see the DFC control panel.

Manfred Wollgarten used to be a racedriver, here is his price collection. Pretty impressive!

Finally a picture of the AC Schnizter workshop.

More pics from AC Schnitzer can be found at http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...a=13584503&f=0

Cheers,
/Johan

I've been pretty rough on them but still they lasted 9000miles!

Two trips to Germany with extensive tracking on Nordschleife,
two full track days on two tracks in Sweden, one day at the strip and on top of that "some" accelaration tests with AP22.
I've also done some donuts with them, did you know you can do donuts in 2nd with the beast?

Anyway, now Pilot Sports are on again.

Cheers,
/Johan

Johann, Whilst you were at ACS did they happen to mention if they had similar plans for the M3 or will they stick with just offering a Sports suspension as with the previous model. I think it is a really great idea to have adjustable suspension depending on requirements. Sure you will make good use of it!!

They were thinking of DFC for the E46 M3 but had not decided yet. They already offer sport suspension as well as race suspension for the E46 M3.

The E46 M3 with ACS mods, S3, were really fast on Hockenheim short track 1.16,4 vs stock E46 M3 SMG II in 1.17,8.
Note that the S3 has no engine tuning.

/Johan
